Timing belt/water pump kit or piece together?

I've got a contact who will do the install for me, but I still need the parts for the timing belt and water pump change for my 4Runner with 111k miles. I just bought it and can't find a sticker saying its been done anywhere, nor is it in the carfax.

Is buying a kit with all the pieces like this worth it price-wise?

Use this kit...same as above, and will be easier than piecing everything together. Will most likely be cheaper too. I ordered this kit the other day.

If I was in the states I would have bought the first kit you posted. Since I have to pay duty and taxes I just took mine apart and got what I needed. I only changed the pump/t-stat and T belt. Everthing else was in great shape and didn't need replacing. But again I spent over 200 on just a pump and belt so for 300 to my door I would do it all.

I am going with this kit because it has all Toyota/OEM parts and the other kits that have been posted from ebay and amazon DO NOT use all Toyota/OEM parts. In my mind it is worth it to spend the extra $50-$100 for factory replacement parts but that is just my $0.02.

And to answer your question: Yes, buying everything in a kit will definitely be cheaper than trying to piece everything together.

That's what I was looking at. I need to just replace my tensioner, since the Timing Belt was done about 40k ago but they didn't replace the tensioner, just the belt. I think I will go ahead and do it all just for the peace of mind. Of course that's only if lubing my tensioner doesn't work to eliminate my squeak.

Water pump always AISIN (OEM manufacturer for toyota). if this is expensive, Paraut is another good water pump.... but don't go with GMB.
T-belt always TOYOTA
Crank and cam seals TOYOTA, if you use any thing else, they'll fail before 60 K miles
T-belt tensioner and idler bearing KOYO, NSK OR NACHI. NO GMB

I installed a cheap non-OEM waterpump in the past. It has a lifetime warranty (yay!). It still FAILED at 40k miles use. I then paid labor and the cost of new OEM waterpump to have the job done right.

That lifetime warranty is near useless to most folks. Cheap parts manufactures offer it because they know most folks sell their car before 50k miles rolls around and the part fails.

Get real OEM parts or you will regret it down the road. Trust me. I've had my 4Runner for over 10 years now and can tell you that cheap non-OEM EBAY/AMAZON/AUTOZONE/MOOG ect parts will fail.

Sorry, I should've been more clear. Certain items I do care about oem parts like the water pump and belt itself , but for things like brakes and pads I've found there are much better options with other brands (at least in my experience with my last two cars and motorcycle ). But those I guess are performance parts, not parts like a belt where you need a reliable part that just does the job.

I have Brembo performance rotors and aftermarket performance pads with my stock calipers. So yeah I'm not 100% OEM either.

Just stay away from the cheap ebay/Amazon stuff is my point.

There is the question of whether or not those are even real Toyota parts.

I can buy a Tiffany's necklace on EBAY or Amazon but it doesn't mean that a real Tiffany's piece will show up in the mail. There are lots of fakes on EBAY and Amazon and you have no way to prove it. BUT they do have 99.9% positive feedback and I would seriously consider this kit if I was doing it myself. I buy "grey market" Alpine from EBAY power sellers and have had 0 problems with quality.

And it does seem like a heck of a deal. $355 for the EBAY "Toyota" parts vs $450 for Camelback Toyota Online. You may want to try and call Camelback Toyota to see if they will match this kit price. I bet they would come within $50 of the price.
