Timing Belt

Was quoted $380 for a timing belt in my 04 Sport V8. Once under the hood, they would check other belts, hoses and water pump.

I know for my Honda Civic, they wanted to replace pump no matter what. Appears for Toyota, more of a wait and see.

Thoughts on price and other "optional" work. Anything else recommended at 90k. Need this truck to hang in there another couple of years.

IMHO the $380 quote is to "get you in there". You hunch about the water pump is right IMHO. I would put it in. I'd also do the tensioner and idler pulleys. The job is so labor intensive and the consequences of failure are so high the goal should be to have everything under the timing cover 100%. Everything on the outside of the timing cover can be handled on more of an "as-needed" basis.

Just my 2cents.

Agreed. I haven't gotten there yet but from what I've read on the forums, you wanna get that stuff done all at one time.
