Timing Belts, Water and Dirve Belts.

Hi there,
I ask Toyota Dealer near our place to give me a quote for my timing belt, water pump and drive belts they told me the price will be $1400 including labor fee... Do you know if this price is good or expensive? Do you have any suggestion?

Yes, go to a different dealer. $1400 is way to high. I'd go for $800-$1000 max.

I somewhat agree with Lineman, but i think we have to be really specific here.

The timing belt, water pump and serp belts (just those 3 SPECIFIC THINGS) should not be $1400. However, typically entailed in that service on a V8 4th gen. 4Runner is the 90K service, which comes with a LAUNDRY LIST of added items (ie: coolant change, brake flush/bleed/refill, service the tranny, service the differentials + transfer case, oil and filter, cabin filter, air filter, and there's more but i cant remember) but that adds a substancial amount to the end-cost.

Maybe the dealership was under the impression that those items were getting done?

I just got mine done at the dealership for $775. This included serpentine belt, timing belt, water pump assembly, thermostat, labor, and taxes.

I would say the price depends on what you are doing, if you are doing a 90k service and changing the waterpump and timing belt as well, $1400 might be a tad expensive, if you're doing things like a valve adjustment, new pads, ect. that may be reasonable.

It included the following:

• Timing belt
• Idler pulleys
• Tensioner
• Serpentine belt
• Water pump
• Cooling system thermostat
• Cooling system radiator upper hose
• Cooling system radiator lower hose
• Gasket
• Pcv valve
• Coolant flush

Oh ok. Thats probably why it was cheaper than the typical 90k cost.

Mine's getting done next week, and after calling around I got quotes starting at $2195 and lowest was $1300. I was able to call the Toyota dealership that I trust and they matched the $1300 price tag. That includes the entire 90k service & the timing belt change.
