Timing cam on 22re

Do you use the two marked links in the timing chain or put the dot on the crank sprocket straight down and the cam sprocket dot straight up ? This one has the cam sprocket dot at about 1 oclock when the dot on the crank sprocket is straight down if the two chain links are on the dots .Arnie

The crank sprocket needs to be at the 12 o'clock position (#1 Piston TDC) and the dot on the cam sprocket needs to be at the 11:30 position. The shiny links on the chain aren't really all that useful.


Edit:
I think the only real use for the shiny links are for maintenance after it's all installed. ie: Adjusting the valve lash. With the valve cover off, if the shiny link on the chain is aligned with the dot on the cam sprocket then you know your #1 piston is at TDC.
