Timing Kit Choices

I'm looking at a couple different timing kits and I was wondering if these ones are any good, and if they are missing anything I should look into getting.

I can't link the other ones because they are on Rockauto, but they are the ones that unclude the water pump from Aisin and Gates.

This one has also caught my eye, but the price seemed a little too good to be true.

Or if there is an equivalent of this for cheaper that would be nice too because I have to do my valve cover gaskets too.

Thank you for your input.

You're probably going to hate hearing this by the time this thread is over, but I'd go with AirCabinMan's kit (choose the one to your liking).

All OEM parts, and you can verify the part #s if you so choose from your dealer...they match perfectly.

I bought the one with all belts, pulleys, etc for $350. A pretty good chunk of change, but more than $200 cheaper than going through the dealer.

I just feel better with OEM when dealing with something that crucial.

I wouldn't go for the GMB parts in the first two listings. That looks like a paper WP gasket in the pic, not the metal and rubber that Aisin uses. Instant dealbreaker.

Go with aircabinman. The all Aisin kit is pretty good, although the NAPA hoses are sort of "wtf?" (Compare the WP gasket in that pic to the other two and you will see what I mean.

The Aisin kit here seems to be reasonably priced for what you get. Are there any red flags any ones sees with this one? I like it because it looks like it comes with everything I need to do the timing and valve cover gaskets.

Watching Patiently as I recently purchased a 02' 4runner yesterday with 134K and I cant seem to find any indication that the Timing belt/Water pump as ever been touched. In fact the drive Belts have some checking on the inside and are extremely faded so im not completely ruling out that they arent original. The above linked kit looks to be the best buy IMO, Ill wait and see what some of the other seasoned members suggest before I pull the trigger.

Thanks

My '02 had 150k and was all original when I bought it.
I got the aircabinman kit because it was listed as oem stuff. I was not disappointed. Well worth a little extra cost, especially if oem got the truck to 150k without incident.
I also replaced the hoses, valve cover gaskets, pcv, plugs and wires, and the radiator. Took the time to clean the valve body and the MAF with everything apart. Damn thing runs like new. No headaches no hassles. It all fit perfectly.

I got the aircabinman kit as well and you can customize it to your liking. Just send them a email and you can have them leave out something you do not want or change them to other parts. Fast shipping as well and great customer service.

Everything was good quality except for the thermostat, it stated that it had a jiggle valve on the description but did not come with one :nono:. I ended up drilling a tiny hole in it myself to let trapped air out. I would have went with a better one that I could see the jiggle valve on in the picture itself but I ran into the usual separate warehouse issue as one will with rock auto.

I also highly recommend picking up the compression tool for the tensioner if you do not intend to replace it. I managed to press it back in with a small pry bar eventually on the truck but it was a pita, removing it to put it in a vice is also a pita due to the bolt location behind the AC compressor. Also if you don't have a pin set to lock it when its compressed a small allen key works well.

I was in your shoes about a month ago...looking for the best deal on a T/B kit. Looking for the best parts...for the best price. I too looked through several posting to see what others have found.

Most advised aircabinman, so I went to eBay. While looking up what he had...I run across Metero1969 (Toyolex parts). They had the exact same parts as aircabinman had...plus an oil filter and thermostat both with gaskets. I printed off the parts list and went to my Toyota dealer. He confirmed that all part numbers were Toyota except the belts...which are made by MITSOBOSHI. He stated that Mitsoboshi is a company that supply's OEM Toyota belts and are of high quality.

I emailed Metero1969 and told them I didn't need a thermostat nor the oil filter. They quickly responded with a new price of $269.09...which is $34 cheaper than aircabinman. Made my order and had my parts in hand 3 days later...all parts were as advertised.
