Tips to improve '98 4runner acceleration

I drive a 98 2.7l 4cyl 4runner and won't be getting a new car for at least a couple years. The acceleration is absolutely horrendous and I want to make it a little better.

If anybody has any tips or advice I would appreciate it. I'm not looking for anything above $200 to be honest. I was looking at some cold air intakes. What do you guys think?

Thanks

What's your gear ratio? Some 2.7s came with 3.73, easy way to get it to accelerate faster would be to drop in 4.10 or 4.30 diff(s).

Don't spend a dime on intake or exhaust, you'll get nothing but more noise out of it.

Other than that, embrace the slow-ness that is the Toyota 4 cylinder!

Do a tune up, spark plugs\wires, oil, air filter, etc.
Remove anything non essential from the vehicle to reduce weight.
Go to a smaller size tire.
Figure out what gear ratio you have, then see what your options are.
