Tire load index?

Hey guys I have decided on 265/70/17 General Grabber AT2 tires. I just have one quick question. There is one tire that is $126 with a load index range of 112 and another one that is $140 with a load index range of 121/118. What is the difference in the two and which one should I go with???

You want the cheap one. The 121/118 tire is for an F350 pick-up not your 4500lb 4Runner.

Load Range E tires (the 121/118) are heavy, require high air pressure to be safe, ride rough, can be slick in the rain etc. Why do some go for the heavy tires? Many times the heavy tires have an extra sidewall ply and some extra tread plies. People who air-down and 4wheel around sharp rocks, cactus and other really sharp stuff like them and are willing to live with the 'downside'.

You can still air down and 4wheel just fine on the ones you're looking at.

Okay that is what I thought I just wanted to confirm that! I don't tow much so I didn't think I needed a load range E tire. Thanks for all of your help!

:iagree: With the lighter tire you won't feel much of a difference in ride quality and won't sacrifice as much mileage. Good choice on the tire, too :wink2:
