Tire pressure and rotation on my new 285/70/17

What would be the ideal tire pressure on my new set of tires ? The shop said 35 psi but I think that’s kind of low for the size of the tire.

Curious as to what everyone is running to daily drive their vehicles ?

Also, what’s the recommended way of rotating these tires ?

5k miles is the generally recommended rotation interval. I keep mine at 40. personal preference.

I rotate at oil change, around 7-8,000 miles. Spare is stock so it's 4 tire rotation.
I drive to work on Wed, home from work on Sun-Mon.
One way is 4 miles rough dirt roads (20 mph max) & 18 miles highway (65 mph).
Summer reaches +120°f, winter is teens & the roads are mud.
So summer I run 37psi, heats up to 40psi. Winter I run 30psi.

Do you do regular rotation or cross rotating ?

Everyone is different, so this is just my opinion not a suggestion for what it's worth.

The vehicle, tire size, driving conditions are just parameters. What matters is your intent and preference. What I like or do with my equipment is not the same as anyone else. In the end do what makes sense for you and your situation. Keep it safe and make small changes and see what works for you.

i.e. don't fill your tires to some random pressure based on some random post, from some random dude on the internet and run the Baja 500.

The tire shop gave you the generic pressure that shouldn't cause you to crash too much. If you look inside your driver's door frame a sticker will show the manufacturer's recommendation for each tire. That's with the OEM tires on OEM wheels and again it's the "safe" bet.

I'm stock size on Toya ATII. I run 2 psi over the sticker on the door panel. 30K and the tire wear pattern looks even. 265/70-17 load range C.

I air down to 20 for trails and 15 for deep sand.

You never stated what load rating they are. E Load, is going to be more than a SL or P rated tire. 32-35psi cold depending on preference and load would be what I run in a SL rated tire. 38-45psi is what I would run in an E load rated tire. Depending on load.

35 is good. I had 285/75-16 C load KO2’s on my 2001 4Runner and kept them there.
