I need some input from experienced users. I want to upsize my tires and I went to a tire shop to get some pricing. I want to use 285/75-16. The Tire shop said he would sell them to me but would not recommended it. He went into the reasoning behind it because the tires are only available in load range D (8 ply) and or E (10 ply). He said the higher ply tire need more air (65+ PSI) in them to have then wear evenly. It would ride kind rough riding. He said, if I were to get them and run them at 30 psi, i would see bad cupping and poor tire life.
This is for those people who are using 285/75-16 tires.
What brand and model are you running?
What pressures are you running?
How are the tires wearing?
Will you get the 50k+ miles out of them?
How is the ride quality verses the old 4 or 6 ply tires?
