Tire sensor light on

My tire sensor light and apparently according to discount tires i have 3 sensors that are out. My tires are all good just that dang light. I dont wana spend $65 per tire to replace the sensors. Will be trading it in soon. And I dont mind the light.

MY question is will my 4runner pass an inspection with that light on.

My inspection is due. Maybe I can pull a fuse or something but wondering if that will do something to the computer that is connected when they do an inspection.

You will not fail inspection because of TPMS Light.

Also, I am not 100% sure, but if your light is actually “on” and not blinking, I believe it means that tire (s) pressure is actually low; TPMS light will blink if one or all of TPMS sensors are malfunctioning (broken\low battery\ not communicating with TPMS module).

I have a TPMS light on too; and have had it for a while now. Since I have a 2013 SR5 and TPMS battery life is around 7-8 years, I figure I have a bad battery - or more. There is no way in the SR5 to determine which tire it is. Poor design by Toyota. I just check with a tire gauge and call it good.

I don't know if the 4th and 5th gens share some electronics but this is worth diving into: Write-up: How to Disable (Bypass) the TPMS

I did this on my 2007 because I too wasn't going to pay $65/wheel/x5 to replace the sensors.

It's a bypass that is reversible.

It's getting so I don't notice the light now! I might get the sensors replaced when I get new tires, but that will be a while. Toyota's logic escapes me here. In the early 5th gens they don't make sensor values display and unless you have a Limited there is no sensor in the spare. The spare is the one value I'd want; since it's stored with the valve stem up.

Perhaps the guy that designed the infotainment system designed the TPMS system as well!

$65 a tire seems like a lot. I got OEM sensors at $50 a piece Canadian, bought and programmed at toyota.

Mine blinks then turns solid every time I drive; I am not driving the original wheels/tires and haven't had it reset, so it will do the same if it's missing a reading.
