Tire size opinions wanted

I have a 13 TE with a 3" Toytec lift and I'm going to put a set of Black TRD 17x7 rims ( already have in garage). I just don't know what to do with tire size and wanted some opinions. I'm going with BFG AT KO2's. I can stay stock size in a C rated (265/70/17) or move up to 275/70/17 "c" or go to 285/70/17's in an "E" rated.

Whats you thoughts/advice please ???

I've always ran BFG ATko's but was also wondering about the GY Duratracs in comparison , anyone make that switch , and why / thoughts ??

I believe the 275's are also only E load. I am running the BFGoodrich KO2 275/70/17 on TRD pro wheels with a 3 inch lift and I regretting not going with 285/70/17. I don't mind running E load, its nice knowing the tires are super strong and airing down wont cause much damage. If you have the room to fit the tires you might as well get 33's and have more clearance off-roading.

Sounds like a generic 'feedback' question to me. I realize everyone likes to throw out the 'use the search function' on these kinds of threads, but some simple feedback is certainly warranted here as well.

Love the one you posted on changing tire size, I read it again and again. Has me thinking stay P rated in stock or P275/70/17 for the 1.75 front getting tomorrow. 95% of my driving is pavement and the C rated are 7-8 pounds extra per tire. The small lift is already extra wear and tear on componets. Why make the engine run harder to turn C rated, and the gearing issues you mentioned. Like the Firestone Destination AT2.

Yes... perhaps some harmless immediate feedback.

I went with 275/70/17 C load in a Cooper. No big hit in the weight department or rolling resistance. Big gains in stability over the P rated IMO. Tires were the first thing I did and nose dive under breaking essentially disappeared. Boss Toytec up front and SAW with Bilsteins in the rear.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I like my setup. Not much Off-roading in these parts. Everything I do is down at the beach running Democrat Point to fish and surf… a sand buggy. Other than that it’s a marina and Home Depot mule. A good looking mule though.

How do you use your truck. Do you offroad much? In what conditions?

I would lean towards a 285, but if you are only on hwy and dirt roads... smaller would be fine.

Duratrack is a good tire for mixed use.

34x10.5. I'm considering picking some up to put on my stock wheels and run them in the winter. They're only 33.5" diameter according to BFG specs, so they probably measure out to 31" or so.

What PSI are you running for normal pavement driving? We have the exact same tires. My tire pressure dash light came on this week with 32psi in each tire. I put 34psi in each tire and the light is still on. Anyone know how to reset? Toyota says 32psi for the stock 265/whatevers.

I just checked my cold tire pressure and it was 37. I haven't touched it since I have my tires rotated and balanced so that's what they set them at. The door says 32 psi for stock tires so the light shouldn't come on if it's set above that. Is the light solid or flashing? The light should reset while driving, you might have a bad sensor.

It's only "generic feedback" if you don't search and realize there are hundreds of tire threads. Before getting tires and wheels not once did I have to ask the opinion of the forum, because the "feedback" was already here.

The light is solid. Stays on all the time. Need to take it in for rear brakes so I'll deal with it then. Probably just a reset.

Stayed with 265s when I got my k02s (E rated). I think they look fine with my lift (~2" F/~1.5" R). When I added the 1.25" wheel spacers they made the whole vehicle look more aggressive. I will say that the 285s look good though!

Are you in an 06 4th gen? The light resets itself when the pressure gets back to normal. If you are in an 06 the batteries in the sensors may be going dead.
