Tire size picture request

I tried searching, but haven't found many results probably because I'm awful at searching the forum. I'm looking for pictures of a 3rd gen with a 3" lift and 285/70/17 or 285/75/16 size tires.

I'll be going with spacers to keep the cost down for now as I'll be getting into a newer 4Runner with the next year.

If you're looking for a "newer" one.....this is the 3rd Gen section....1996-2002 models.

I'm guessing you mean newer than that....

You can google using: toyota-4runner.org/4thGen/3" lift for example to help with the search.

i have a 97 now that I'll be lifting for the time being. Just looking for examples of what that size tire will look like with the 3".

It'll sit on Matte black 17" trd pro wheels from a new 4Runner, which I'll then swap to the new one when the time comes.

So do you want close ups? It will be hard to see .5" of sidewall height difference from much farther than a few feet away. Young eyes are such a under appreciated asset. If anyone has the ability to have them edge to edge with the same wheels it would be best.

I have a 3" Front and 3.5" rear lift. When the tent is on the roof, it is a dead-even 3" rear lift. The tires are 285/70R17. They are on 8 inch wide wheels with -10 offset. What are the specs on the wheels you intend to run? I was running the FJ 6 spoke wheels and I had to use spacers to fit on the front end. Or you could shave down the UCA to clear. It's close, wouldn't need that take much off.

Also, you may have a hard time with the 285s on a 7" wide wheel. The tread balloons up pretty bad, and some shops refuse to do it. On my F250 I am running 285/75R16s on a 7" wheel and had to try a couple shops to do it. It handles poorly (squirrel-y) because it's squeezed together. It handles well when I really load the truck down and it forces the tread flat. Just something to consider.

Yeah ideally id want at least an 8" wide wheel but I'm set on these TRD Pro wheels, plus I can get an awesome deal on them. A lot of guys are running a 285s on factory wheels from what I've seen as well so I'm not greatly worried about it, but thanks for the heads up! I've run 33x12.5 BFG Mud Terrain KM2s on a set of 15x8 and 15x10s on my previous 4x4 vehicle with no swaybars so that poor handling won't be something new lol

Gotcha, my CJ5 had 35s on 15x8 wheels initially. I swapped them out for some 15x10s pretty quick. It was pretty scary, even at 16 PSI, which is what I had to run them at until the new wheels came in. No sway bars, no track bars, so on. After the 15x10s, it was a dream to drive. I hear ya on the TRD wheels, I almost bought some, but the width killed me. I think the Trail Edition wheels are 7.5" though. Good Luck, keep us posted.
