You guys think 285/35 R16 would fit on a stock suspension 3rd Gen? They are just a shade over 31", well almost 32" I guess measureing in at 31.7 inches.

I'm guessing there's a typo somewhere in your post. 285/35r16 would be super wide sports car tires.

285/75r16 are more typically found on a 4runner, but they are actually closer to 33" at 32.8"

If you do a search, you will find the info you need.

Cliffs notes: some have successfully fitted 285's to a stock 3rd gen (helps to have non-sagging suspension or 99 tall springs), the vast majority find that the rubbing is too bad and some sort of lift is required for this tire size. May also contact the upper control arm, requiring spacers or different wheels.

Every truck is different and not all tires of the same size are actually the same size. There are too many variables, but I suggest you start with a thorough search.

I am running 285/75/16 tires with a 3" lift they clear well unless I hit a bump when turning

I am running a 265/75/16 on mine and they fit perfect with no lift, I can't see going any bigger at least on mine without a lift. You will probably have some rubbing issues and may look out of proportion. jmo

Well thanks everybody for the advice, that was the size I saw listed on craigslist and looked it up online for inches conversion and the number the site had was 31.7" x 9.something. I always thought 31s were the biggest you could have for stock height but they were cheap an I need a set that will pass inspection so I was wondering if you could push it that extra 3/4"s. I guess I wil just keep looking for a set of 31s or smaller.
