tire size question

I am looking to buy new wheels and tries to compliment the Camburg long travel and toytec superflex rear coils I have. I will also be installing fiberglass fenders up front.

I want to get 17" wheels in preparation for a tundra brake upgrade as well.

So the question is will I have rubbing issues with 33x12.5x17 or 305 65/70 17 tires?

I will have hydraulic bump stops on each corner, king 2.5 coil overs in the front and custom length king bolt in shocks in the rear.

I bought my wheels from 4wheelparts and going to be getting tires probably the week after next.

After reading some stuff and looking around seems like 285/70/17 is the way to go and what most people run.

In my opinion there is no need to go to a 17" rim. It's just more dead weight. I run a 16x8, 3.5" BS, -25mm offset wheel, and I dont have any clearance issues with my Tundra brakes.

I run 285/70/17 on my 4runner with a 3 in lift and I have very very minor rubbing only that does not happen every time. So yes you will definitely have rubbing issues with 305's, however if you still want to go that route a little hammering and cutting can go a long way for clearance purposes!

I run 285/70/17 with Zero rubbing regardless of turning and full compression. I've also done some trimming + hammer on my pinch welds. I can almost fit a 35x12.50x15 but can't turn/compress them fully. I'm looking at going with a 305/65/17 which is the same size height wise as my current tires. This tire is only .35 inches wider on each side and from measure it will fit. I'm not afraid of using a hammer or grinder to get this wider tire to fit with zero issues. Running the LT setup you will have less conflict with the front's sitting out further from the Frame, but new conflict with the body till fiberglass fenders. The rear didn't rub when I was doing my test fitting.

All of this information is from me personally measure my current setup(non-LT) with trying to fit a wider/larger tire. I'm still on the fence as my dad is trying to have me stay with 285's but I want that extra .75" wider overall for better float sand/snow.

I will say I kept my 17's from my 5th gen. I'm glad I kept them versus the 15/16's. They don't bother me with the size just the extra money for less rubber on the wheel...

Finally some replies, thanks guys. I think I'm going to stick with 285's. I don't mind cutting and hammering but Just pricing Bfg ko2 in 285 vs 305 I saving a decent chunk of change and that's what really makes me ok with my decision.

Also, a reason I went to 17" wheels is another vehicle I have runs the 17 6x5.5 wheels so I can swap if ever needed.
