currently on a toytec 3 inch suspension lift i have bf goodrich 265 70/16 and was wondering if i go to a 285 75/16, will my tires run on a full turn? and also what a good new set of rough AT or Mud Terrains tires would be that are lesss than the bf goodrich

Do some searching on tires and you'll find a lot of different options.

As far as the 285s rubbing,the chances are very high. It all depends on the backspacing of your wheels. With factory wheels you'll probably have to run some spacers. I would think the max you would need to do is pound the pinchweld though.

You will need backspacing if on stock wheels with either new wheels or spacers. Also a little trimming of the front plastic valance. Rear bumper may rub at full flex when tires stuffs.

May rub a bit with stock wheels, but nothing too bad. May have to trim, especially if you have a limited. You can add some wheel spacers (1"-1.5") or new wheels. 4.5" back spacing with -6mm offset is the perfect fit for 285s IMO.

As for AT tires, check out Falken Rocky Mountain/Wild Peak. You can get five 285s in D load for +- $800. Both my father and I have been running them for a few years. They are quiet, have a 50k warranty, and have gotten through everything I put them through.

i actually have the same make and model exactly as you( sr5 98 4x4 v6 3.4) if i do need more room after market, is it better to get new wheels or spaces and if spacers does anyone know if that is an expensive set up

Wheel spacers can be bought for around $200 new, give or take depending on the manufacturer. All-pro and SpiderTrax are the most popular ones. Some people are fine running them, some people will not. Personally, I wouldn't mind running them, I just wanted new wheels. Also, some tire shops have a policy of not working on a vehicle with spacers...don't know why, they just won't.

Wheels can set you back anywhere from $200 or so up to around $800+. Mine were around $450 shipped. So for a couple hundred bucks more, I got new wheels (which looked way better than the triple spoke stockers) and I have not rubbed one bit. Full lock and off-road over rocks and trees its all been clear. I didn't even need to pound in the pinch weld, and I gained more clearance from the UCA.

Tire places poilicies usually don't allow their workers to service vehicles with spacers since somewhere along the line a wheel spacer caused an issue/accident and a lawyer got involved so to not take any chances tire places just don't mess with them

265/75 is the largest you can run with no rubbing issues (some still have them) and if you want bigger you should give it a slight lift to avoid issues.

I figure that's why they won't work on trucks with spacers. Guess it just depends on where you go.

OP has a 3" lift already, so he should be fine on everything but full lock...

This is going to vary by tire place. Also by the type of spacers. If you just have short, 1/4", spacers that don't bolt on then they might have an issue. I just got my tires mounted and I'm running All Pro 1.5" spacers and they didn't have a problem. I asked them before hand and they said as long as they were the bolt on type that they would still mount my wheels no problem.
