My 4runner curbs at 6200lbs, often crawling through sharp rocks at 8psi.As someone who has to run rough riding, E rated tires on 3/4 ton trucks.
I'd like to know why everyone thinks they need a heavy ass tire like that on a 4Runner.
My work truck weighs about 6400lbs with tools.
My Titan was 7100.
Those need a tire like that. A 4Runner doesn't.
It's your rig and your money, but I don't know why anyone thinks it's necessary.
If you're looking for a certain size/model tire and it only comes E rated, I'd find a different tire.

Do you really think the 1/2” difference in clearance is worth going from a 265 c tire to a 275 e tire? This is the dumbest mod I see on these rigs. Stay stock or go to the 285 c for some actual gains in clearance or looks if thats your motivation. With the 275 you pay a weight, ride and performance penalty for no functional improvement.
This. I have 4 of those sitting in my garage right now waiting to go on later this week.I think Falken Wildpeaks are fairly light. And a popular choice. And good looking.

I agree completely. While they look slightly better than stock, the trade off is not worth it. The E ratings are a horrific choice for our rigs unless you’re in MOAB every day.
OP, I’m in the same boat. I’m running the Falken AT3W in stock size, P series, and am one of the original buyers. This is with my 5100s set to .85F/ stock rear. In a P-Series, I’ve towed damn near capacity for the Runner, I off-road at least once a week for fun, and push my rig harder than my Jeep friends combined. The P-Series has done it all without an issue AND I get a great on-road drive.
I’m about to move my suspension up to your choice (2.5F/1.5R) and am sticking with the Wildpeak AT3W in P flare in the 285/70-17 size. Really take a look at them and really consider your needs. The E tires are going to murder your ride for extra ruggedness that I have yet to need. I wish there were more C rated options in a 285. I have zero interest in the Goodforayear duratracs.

265 KO2s are just under 45 lbs in C load, which is what my E load Nittos weigh. The P-rated Duelers are 41 lbs each.
Some of us don't choose a tire solely on looks, and when you're spinning out trying to take off at a stoplight on barely wet pavement at the slightest incline, I'm sure those KO2s will look extra cool.
Call me crazy, but in my head, if you add front & rear bumpers, sliders, skids, rack on top with tent, and vehicle loaded with gear then i think the E rated tire is the right choice, but hey i'm old and senile.
