Tire

Ok I will get one. Mechanic says everything looks ok but obviously something isn't. Took it to an alignment shop and its aligned correctly but the wheel just sits funny.

Take it to a tire shop and have them spin the wheel on the balancer, might be a tweaked wheel or something wrong with the tire.

Maybe the mating surface on the hub is warped, or there's a foreign object on it?

The only vehicle I've ever know for the wheels to sit crooked (they don't wobble when driving) is a mini cooper. They have bad rear axles that sag over time until they snap in half LOL. Saw another one the other day about to go.

Good suggestions thanks. Everyone I take it too can see it, they just can't fix it. Based on what I've read, I think it's a bad axle or something related.

Ok, so how do I fix a tire that's tilted slightly out on a 3rd gen runner? Right front

:wtf:

It is completely impossible for the wheel to be tilted out, and the alignment be good at the same time. The alignment IS the tilt and toe of the wheels. If you can see a difference with your eye, and the alignment tech is telling you the machine says it's good, take it to another shop because the one you're dealing with doesn't know what they're doing.

This is hard to see. But the right front sticks out about an inch further at the top than the left. Also, the gap between the tire and wheel well is 1 1/2 inches higher on the front right.

This is interesting, because when i look at mine from the front i always think my drivers side tire is a tad angled out compared to the passenger side. Almost like the toe on that wheel is off but alignments always come back good, except for caster due to my lift. It puzzles me because i get a alignment once a year, and replace suspension components with toyota oem( lower ball joints, outer rod ends) Now granted i do need to take the 4runner to a better alignment shop, i have been upset with brakes plus, due to their lack of knowledge and only doing what the machine tells them to do with the last two alignments, but they are so close to my house!

Maybe the height issue between the two sides are the common drivers side lean due to the constant weight of the driver and gas tank being on the same side. mine leans a bit also, i also have a lifted ford explorer that has the same gas tank positioning and it leans.

check your shock bushings, the bolt should be right in the middle of the bushing, if its off then it needs to be replaced. I would replace ths entire shock.

Given what you are saying, for sure you would have excessive wear on the outer tire road surface. How is that tire wearing compared to the others?

Only other possibility is you entire front axle has shifted :roadkill:

Thanks for the input. I will have my mechanic check both. I'm leaning toward problems with both the shock and bushings and the axle as well. I ran off a curb at speed a couple weeks ago and the right side went down first before I could brake. D farms: you would replace shock on the right side that is sitting higher?
