Tires - Highway or AT ?

i went with a 265/65/18 michelin m/s2. i've had them in snow and off road a little and they did just fine. i drive 99% of the time on road and really didn't see the point in spending more for the a/t although i do prefer the looks. the main difference is the weight between the tires which will impact fuel consumption, and let's be honest, these things tend to be a little thirsty as it is.

I will gladly recommend the michelin ltx m/s2's. I have them put on about 2 months ago and they have been excellent.

Ya I think M/S2's it is. Plus I can get them for $810 out the door!

There are quite a few great A/T tires you can go with. I personally went with the Nitto Terra Grapplers due to the good agressive look and great ratings. The ones that I can think of are the Nitto TG's, Firestone Destination A/T, Michelin's that everybody has talked about, Hankook Dynapro ATM, BFG TA KO, GY Silent Armor and Toyo Open Country. I would suggest going with one of those A/T tires rather than H/T tires especially if you do the least bit of off roading. You can't go wrong with any of the ones that I listed.

I can't wait to get a set of AT's on my 4Runner now that I got it lifted. This thread however is really making me miss the Mich LTX M/S 2s that I had on my Z71 Colorado.

Hands down the best tires that I've ever owned. When I replaced the stock General brand tires with these, it felt like a brand new truck. Greatly improved ride comfort, handling and road noise. As awesome as they were, I'm dumb for considering something else and if I do get something else it will be solely for looks.

I was trying to find a pic of the MS2s, this was the first one I found. These tires took me anywhere I was willing to go; mud, snow or otherwise.

I have almost 50,000 on my Geolandar A/T-S and they are just getting to the wear bars they are quiet on the road and have traction off road enough for some 4 wheeling
I think they look like the Revo 2's just less money jmo

I've been real happy with my GY SA. Had them on my SE and LTD. Handles great in the rain, fairly quite on the highway. Never had an opportunity to try them in the snow. Will probably get a set for my 09 TE when the original tires wear out.
