I can't believe they jacked up your hatch like that!!! Oh man, I would be pissed off! :redbrick: Are you going to be reimbursed by the shipping company for the cost of repairs on that? It's not like you can just run down to a parts store and buy another one of those.

Kudos to you though, you sound very calm about the situation.

Looking good! Those Icons are super sexy.

Thanks. I was originally going to go with Camburgs but Wheeler's was out of stock so I just went with the Icons. I also like them since they have rear shocks as well. I didn't get them yet but I will later on.

Yeah there's no reason to make a fuss about something you have no control over. I'm going to have to file a claim with the shipping company. Either way most body shops absorb the cost of fixing it into the painting of the part so I don't think it'll be a big deal. Speaking of which, would you want to trade some normal sport flares for your rhino lined ones :D

You put all this on a 4cyl???:roadkill::eek:

Someone once told me that just because I had 2wd didn't mean I couldn't play. Anyway, I haven't felt any less power than when I had the 5vz engine. Plus I can control which gear I'm in. Another plus to the 4 cylinder is that I have more options for forced induction.

Follow the lines of COB - 2WD 4Cylinder is now a FI 4Cylinder 4x4.

Nice 4Runner - you're making quick work of the new one.

Yeah there are many build threads that have been very inspirational to me. Plus plans I had left unfinished from my first 4runner. Having a steady paycheck helps fuel my addiction. I still have a WAF (wallet acceptance factor) but it's not the same as when I was in college. Here are a few more goodies.

Some much needed maintenance items from RockAuto.

A new set of Hella Horns that have been sitting around the past month.

And installed all done on NYE right around 8 PM. I love the look. I might recolor the horn cage at some point. I'll leave it like that for now. Makes me want to get an 01-02 grill so they can show up more. The 99 grille covers them up.

I also got a Clifford pager / start alarm back in August after my car was broken into in Chinatown. Thieves saw the suction cups for my radar and reached in to open the door. They passed on my Escort 8500, opened my glove box and took my 9500xi instead and took my gym bag. On rare occasion, I actually had my Macbook pro and point and shoot camera in there. :ybrick: One time I slip by leaving the suction cups on and in broad daylight too. It's all good though I had a back up of my laptop at home on my server so I didn't lose too much. Insurance for everything else that I could remember at least.

However, I didn't think it was worth noting because of a mishap with the remote starter. I remote started it while it was in gear and there was no fail safe. So pretty much my truck started up, crossed the street, and hit a wall. Narrowly missed an LS400. However, crawling at 1-2 mph, they were able to stop. I have since disconnected the clutch bypass switch until I can figure out a better way to utilize the starter. This happened on my second day of having the alarm system. ::face palm::

You have come a long way in a short time! Don't want to let the cat out of the bag, but what about your latest purchase? When are we going to see it? :snacker:

1. i love the photos so far, things are welcome documented. makes me want to upload more pics to my build thread. but I'm lazy.

2. sweet rx7, are you on the forum? if you are you may know my cousin in law who is named Jeff and designs battery trays, not sure if he is still on there.

3. whats the deal with the rs4, thats cray cray

4. what do you plan to do next?

5. I just did the road trip from california to texas, got in late last night to austin. I can appreciate the road trip pictures...lol also noticed both 4runners had long horn decals, i guess everyone that goes to UT has them apparently because my friend here rocks that as well.

In due time, I'm not sure if I need to buy anything else to accommodate for this. Work has gotten in the way of my modding.

2. I am on rx7club. I'm on my second FD and haven't put up a build thread yet. I have one for my former FD though.

3. RS4 is the car I drive when I'm tired of working on my other cars and just want something to cruise in.

4. I have many plans but I need to finish following through on installing parts I have taking up space right now. I don't like to broadcast too much just in case I don't follow through :) There will be some performance mods though.

5. Gotta rep UT and the years I spent there with my original 4runner.

I'm not sure when I'll get to doing more since I'm back to working on my FD at the moment. I'll post some teaser pics of what's to come soon.

Sorry I haven't had a chance for any updates. I've been spending money upgrading my FD. New IC and other little parts here and there. And March and April have been dedicated to carbon cleaning my RS4 and getting some other things ready for a euro car meet in Vegas coming up this week. I'll post some pictures later when I have a chance to. :)

So I dropped off my car back in July 26th to get my tailgate installed. Well 3 long months later they finished...well I was finished with them. They took my suggestion as to take your time and do it right as to taking 2 months to actually finish. Then the shop didn't do it right had to fix it. Then I had to get them to paint the inside and the spoiler because the shop owner misinterpreted my intentions and did not remember to paint those bits including the Hilux Surf plate. Then they also screwed up a few other things. I am going to have to get it fixed at a different shop. Any case here's an update for now. I have a big update in late November coming so stay tuned.

any plans on mounting a swing out with the surf lift gate?

I haven't had a chance to take the truck to the welder yet. My battery died again. I'm debating about getting an optima blue or just going with a local brand. I also have to swap over the wiring harness from my old tail gate since the one on the jdm one won't connect to the harness in the truck. I'll have it done hopefully by the end of the year.

Good looking build. Now where is the link to the FD build!

Unfortunately I don't have a build thread for that one. I should though I've had her over a year now. Sad to say the build is on hold for now so I can work on the Hilux Surf.

Sorry to hear the process was a pain. End results look great!

Thanks. I'm still discovering shoddy work by the shop. Body shops are definitely not equal. Some offer to do all the work for you and some you just feel like you should have done some of the disassembly so they won't messing up the job. Found that I'm stuck with the JDM key lock unless I decided to break the rivets holding in the Hilux Surf name plate.

Heres an update. Boring though.

Turns out the harness doesn't plug into the USDM end so I'll have to swap out the entire JDM harness with the USDM one. I can say its a huge pain so far. I have one more plug that seems unreachable so I'll be patient and revisit it later tonight. I also need to figure which direction to fish the wires through then I get to go through all this with the USDM gate.
