Too much lift from LC coils

I have LC coils (orange, orange, white - 7.75 wrap) on the back with OME 883 on the front (2" lift with the bumper/winch). The back is 1 1/2" too high, even with bumper, tire carrier, and 150# of gear in the back. Adding another 150# brings it down another 1/4" (I thought these springs were supposed to squish under load - these don't budge). The LC springs brought the back up 3 1/2" over the tall 99 coils with the same load.

Anyway, I'm looking for a spring that will give me about 2" lift over stock, with my bumper, tire carrier, and gear. I'm thinking OME 906 or 890 but don't want it to sag. Any suggestions?

I'm sure I'm gonna get some flack for saying this...but just trim them up. Take 1/4 of a wrap off at a time with some sort of metal cutting blade until its just right. Took about a half wrap off mine that way to get it dialed in just right, and it has been working great for me ever since, nice and level with no bad side effects.

Just an option if you don't feel like buying new coils.

These springs have been on here for 6 months and 3000 miles (on a lot of bumpy dirt roads and trails). They should have been settled out from ??? miles on the LC. I don't think they're going to settle any more.

I thought about cutting them, and I have cut springs for cars before, but the way these are made it doesn't look like they would be stable. I'd have to cut from the top and it looks like they might not seat well. That may be an option but I'd rather just get springs if I can get the right ones.

That actually sounds like a good idea in my opinion. Im looking at a set of 7 wraps, more for the ride quality than the lift. Right now Im lifted about 2 inches in the back with my Performance Products coils, but the things are just so stiff for me not having any weight in the back. I would go 3" in the back, but no more. A set of 7 wraps cut down a bit would be perfect for me.

Question, are the LC coils progressive? They dont appear to be

I'm in St. Louis and I'm looking to swap my rear for LC Coils. Any pics on the rig? I've got OME 891's that are less than year old that are currently on my rig but I wanna go higher. Would you be interested in swapping or selling? I've got 1st dibbs :banana:
 
I posted the same question on here a while back about cutting the springs..the general consensus was not to do it. but I have a set of 9 wraps waiting in my garage. so, eager to hear if anyone else has done this or not.

I'm about to have some LC 8 wraps that I'd be willing to trade you for the 891s if he doesn't want to. I don't want as much lift as the LC 8 wraps are going to give me.
 
What are your fender to hub measurements? What kind of shock are you running in the rear?

Due to various spring sizes it is hard to talk about amounts of lift year to year.

Driver: 21 3/4" front, 23 1/2" back fender to center hub.
Pass: 22" front, 24" back.

So I'm 2" higher in the back than front. Front are Rough Country 9000. Rear shocks are LC shocks, though the rear shocks won't make any difference.

I may be interested depending upon whether or not these 7.75 wraps will give me what I'm looking for. Will have to measure tomorrow and check where I currently stand.

Remember, I have about 300 extra pounds on mine so it might end up being more than 2" difference with a stock bumper.
 
I think your best bet may be the 890's, the lc coils are still gonna give you some rake no matter what wrap with 883's up front.

not a common spring around here, but im running them and am at 24.5 center hub to fender on my runner. just to give some more numbers to anyone looking around
 
So how much lift did that give you? Putting an ARB and a winch on, the Tundra coils I am getting have the Billy 4600's on them, so I don't want to have to buy adjustable 5100's right away, but don't want a ridiculous amount of rake. Some is good, as that is natural.
