Maybe on the forums it doesn't have good publicity, but to the rest of the world this was the generation that created the popularity of the 4Runner name.

Agreed. But they did use a Raptor in one segment. I would have bought one, but when I had a Ram it was such a boat to park on the road and in the garage, that it was a huge deterrent. That's not to say the 2017 won't sway me though.

US TG has got a lot better from it's beginnings. The three interact more naturally now, but the editing and scripted bits still get a little cringe worthy. I try not to compare it to the original, for my own sanity.
The street view pics are cool. Some have just the three rigs visible, others have dozens of crew and vehicles in shot.

Well I hate to burst your bubble but using zip ties and duct tape does work well on clamping a broken leaf spring. I've had to use that method to get my crawler off a trail after snapping a main leaf. I used some bailing wire but zip ties would work just as well. Tie the broken leaf together with lots of zip ties and then you wrap it all up with the tape. In fact, it worked so well that I probably would have wheeled the rest of the summer all taped up. So please don't knock it until you've tried it. You might learn a trick or two to get yourself off of a trail in an emergency.

Good to know. I guess some strong zip ties and a lot of tape are needed. It looked like they only used one or two zip ties and a little tape though, which is fitting since the show did not really explain anything they did or were doing.

Yup and yup! I like bailing wire over the zip ties but either would work! I always carry both in my rock crawler.

Not even strong zip ties lol. The leafs moving in a lateral direction require minimal force to keep them together. Now, vertical forces are different but in reality pretty much anything, string, duct tape velcro strap, etc will keep them in place long enough to make it to your destination.
i like the show, it is what it is, entertainment, the banter back and forth between the three of them is funny at times, i get a kick out of it. i think the casting hs great balance, comedian, professional driver, and a techie/geeky awkaward guy...its a good fun show. at times i wish they got more detailed, but thats not what this show is about...they sure get to drive some nice cars though

TGUK was miles apart (and much better when it was Clarkson, Hammond and May) than the American version has ever been. I can't wait to see what they come up with in the fall when they premier their new Amazon show.

Yes Top Gear UK was astonishingly good compared to the US version. You can't fake chemistry between people. Also, the UK adventure specials alone are enough to make it one of the best shows of all time. Let's hope the amazon "show that shall not be named" carries on the fun.

Well, out of boredom I watched it today. Not bad, actually. Top Gear has gotten better. Not UK-worthy yet, but not quite ball licking level either.
