My 99 sr5 with 88k miles is presenting this whining sound for, approximately, the last 5k miles, and during this period I came to the, empirical, conclusion that is related to the torque's converter turbine. When I first noticed this sound I took it for servicing and the stealership mechanic "solution" was to change the trany oil which didn't solve the problem. In the last week I've noticed a slippage at initial aceleration from stop and a vibration in the transfer stick in D 2 and L position, and also some irregular normal and down shifting low gears.
Q/ Might this driver side symptom based guess be correct, and if, once confirmed by a mechanic, be repairable and/or whole unit shold be replaced? during the meantime what are the worst consequences that may happen to the trany?
