(03-18) 4Runner - Upper Control Arm

- 100% Bolt-On UCA constructed of 4130 Chromoly.

- Designed with added caster. When you lift a vehicle with factory upper control arms the wheel will move towards the rear of the vehicle (negative caster). With negative caster you will often have wandering or darting of the vehicle. The TOTAL CHAOS UCA's have positive caster built-in for lifted applications. This allows vehicles with 2.5-3" lifts to get back into factory alignment specs.

- TOTAL CHAOS includes 1" I.D. uniballs that feature a heat treated stainless steel ball & heat treated stainless steel race for maximum corrosion resistance and component longevity. These uniball's also features a military grade PTFE woven fabric liner that helps prevent noise.

- Custom profile upper and lower hi-misalignment spacers maximize droop wheel travel and are machined from heat treated 17-4 stainless steel. Will allow for up to 1" of additional wheel travel when paired with extended travel coil over shocks.

- Urethane bushings reduce bushing deflection compared to stock rubber bushings

- 2 stage powder coat process includes a durable clear coat to provide a long lasting finish.

- Complete grade 8 hardware kit is included

Quick Question: How does this affect the wheel balance issues experienced with 4 Runners at 55MPH-65MPH running lifts, spacers and larger tires?

This will not change wheel balance, but will help greatly with alignment. These arms have positive caster built-in which was designed to allow factory alignment specs on lifted applications. As a result, there is much less wandering or darting of the vehicle. Customers often report a more "planted" or "stable" feel when driving with TOTAL CHAOS UCA's.

Yes definitely will not change the wheel balance. I think more of his questions relates to being that these trucks STOCK are so sensitive to any imperfection does this planted feel also numb some of those issues.

Given the change in geometry thinking it may possibly lessen the tire balance feedback going to the steering wheel

I'm running TC UCAs. More details are in my signature. I will say that I do feel more feedback in the steering wheel, but that is likely due to a more massive tire and stiffer sidewalls. I would not necessarily count that as negative. Overall, the truck is incredibly predictable and stable, even during evasive or aggressive maneuvers.
 
I have had my Total Chaos upper control arms installed on my 4Runner for the last 15k since I upgraded to King shocks and Dobinsons rear springs. The UCA's have been great. They are easy to maintain and keep quiet with super lube on the bushings and Tri-Flow dry lube on the uni-ball. My front end is in alignment spec with the approximate 2.5" lift I have on the front coil overs. The handling is tight and confident on and off-road with little to no negative side effects that are typical with increased control arm angles. Overall, they're one part that I don't need to worry about on the 4R, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Loving mine on the 4runner. Had them previously on two Tacomas and wouldn't go with any other. Thanks for making a great product.

The added caster built into the TC UCA’s will reduce the darting and road wandering tendency that is associated with most 2-3” lift kits. Making sure that you have proper wheel balance and alignment are the only true remedy to the balance or feedback issues that you are experiencing.

People often take for granted the performance that can be lost with improper rim and tire combinations, or worn out tires. These are very important components to consider when you measure your overall ride quality. We also recommend that you check for worn out ball joints, tie rod ends, and lower control arm bushings. These components all require periodic maintenance whether you run stock or aftermarket equipment. Worn out uniball’s can also be a factor to uneven tire wear or poor steering response.

Just ordered a set of your UCA's yesterday. Just want to double check that these are adjustable. They will be going with the Toytec 3inch TRD Pro kit if that makes a difference.
