Touchy Factory Radio Volume Knob

Hi,

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry and have a question about the factory radio. (I know it's not a 4Runner but I had the same problem with my 2000 4Runner factory radio when I got it used). The volume knob is extremely sensitive to touch and if I barely tap it the radio will turn on/off. To change the volume I need to actually pull the knob back a little bit and then turn it to the desired volume. Is this something that I can fix on my own and has anybody else experienced this problem before? I never fixed it on my 4Runner because I got a new radio and got rid of the factory one. My mother's Mazda Protege had the same problem. If I just barely touched the volume know, it would either turn off, or the volume would jump to near max. I doubt very seriously that it is worth the hassle of opening the radio to replace the knob/potentiometer. I'd bet that you can find an oem radio on ebay for dirt cheap. That's how I handled it anyway.

Yeah in my 4Runner I just replaced the radio. The Camry is my uncles and I'm just driving it while I repair my 4Runner. I don't care about the hassle I just thought it would be a fun job to repair the radio while I had it.
