Tow Hitch Bolts

I'm getting confused now. I ran in there and the M8's look small, so I'm guessing they're M10's? On my runner they're stamped "8," and on my mom's "8.8," So I'm guessing it's CLASS 8.8 M10.

That is correct, the 8 & 8.8 stamps are the Grade of bolt and have nothing to do with the size. If the M8's look small its more than likely the M10x1.25x30mm (the length may be a little longer than that.)

Were you ever able to check on those bolts? The ones on the recov hook are not M10's, they're a lot bigger. The Bolt head of the M10 matches the head that of my mom's tow hitch mount bolts, but I either have the nuts caked in mud or they're too thick (I can't bolt 'em in) Anyone else know?

I just checked mine. It appears they are M8x1.25 and 25mm

Lol, They're M8's. Figured that all out now. Got the Stock load-bear hitch off earlier, now I have to remove that drivers side recovery loop, and relocate the 7pin harness. Then goes on the new hitch

M8 indicates that the bolt is Metric with an 8mm bolt diameter (measured from the top of the threads)

1.25 indicates the thread pitch (decimal number indicates metric thread)

30mm indicates the length of the bolt, measured from the mating surface (i.e bottom of the bolt head) of the bolt to the tip of the bolt.

Thread revival! So are these the bolts the OP was talking about for the factory tow hitch bolts v8 or v6? I'm searching for the v6 sizing there should be total of 6 4 on the front and 2 on the bottom?

May buy a v8 hitch with no hardware, just confirming the above is all I need to put a v8 hitch on a 2003 v8 4runner with factory tow package, but only the v6 hitch.

Resurrecting this thread to ask whether anyone knows if p/n PT228-89440-HW, “Towing Options, Hardware” has all the bolts & washers needed to install the V8-style frame-mounted hitch. Searched high & low but can’t find a pic or even a description of what comes in that package. Can’t imagine what else it would be but trying to confirm.
