Towing Ford Escape from ATL to DEN

We're moving my mom in with us and I'll be driving to ATL to pick her up in December. Our options are to either sell her car (2014 2wd Ford Escape w/ low miles) or tow it back.

What are your thoughts on towing a 3500 lb car for a 20 hour drive?

If you'd do it, would you use the dolly (front wheels on trailer, rear on pavement) or the full four wheel car hauler?

Personally, I'd sell it in Atlanta. A 2WD Escape will have terrible resale value here in Denver. The opposite is true for an AWD; those will sit on dealer lots down there longer than 2WDs. My 2-cents.

A car hauler trailer is probably going to weigh around 2000 lbs, and that's the only way I would personally tow one behind a 4Runner. That puts you at max tow weight. I'd sell it for that reason and because it's not going to fetch a decent price in snow country.

Since we'll probably sell her Escape. We're thinking of driving her stuff back rather then doing a POD.
How would towing a 6x12 trailer (2000lbs) with about 1500 lbs in it for a 3500 to 4000 pound load tax the 4Runner?

I've only towed utility trailers with the 4runner so I don't know how it would handle loading it up that much.

Drive sensibly. I don't think it'll be a problem. I wouldn't think twice about that size trailer. But I'd probably plan on going more like 65-70mph on the way home.

I agree with Jetboy that your T4R should handle it OK...BUT be prepared to take a big hit on your gas mileage, even towing a empty trailer you will lose gas mileage from wind resistance, when loaded that will hit the mileage even more, I would guess you will lose at least 5 MPG and possibly more.
