Towing question

I had my 1997 4x4 Auto towed about 5 miles by AAA this morning. I expected a flat bed to show up but it wasnt. I told the driver it was 4x4. He said as long as it was in 2Hi it's fine to tow by the rear wheels with the front wheels on the ground. He left the transmission in park and handed me the keys back while it was towed.

Upon reading my owners manual at home I found it said to leave the transmission in Neutral with the key in the ACC position.

Any chance he did any damage?

I think it should be fine. If your transfer case was in neutral you should be good to go.

Edit: if the transfer case was in 2hi, not sure why I said neutral, although either would serve the same purpose for towing I believe

Yeah I don't think bad could've happened. You should be good to go. The other question is... What happened to your 4Runner?

Transfer case was in 2Hi. It was being towed back home from from a shop . I got it towed there with suspected bad gasket. And they confirmed. Decided to have it towed back from while I weigh my options.

Bump. Just making sure it is ok even though transfer case was in 2Hi and transmission in park.

It's fine. The tcase in 2hi is why it's fine. If the front driveshaft happened to be turning, which it shouldn't have nothing else upstream from it would be.
