Towing Question

I am planning on getting my outfit weighed to see where I fall in that area. I really have no idea. But everything in the trailer, for the most part, is packed into storage bins with the bulk of the weight towards the front of the trailer (closest to the tongue), and the lightest bins in the back. The trailer sits level with the 4R and I really haven't had any swaying issues. But those 40 mph winds on I-95 crossing the Susquehana bridge in MD...yuck. You're totally right though, towing gives you a new-found respect for others towing. Something people who haven't towed before don't realize when they pass you, then get in front of you, then slam on the brakes. :bash:
Can you tell me more about your weight distributing hitch and sway control? I've attached a pic of my trailer.

I know what you mean about some other people on the roads.
Cannot tell you ow many times a vehicle has passed me when I am towing, pulled back in front of me and nearly rip the front bumper off of my 4Runner.
Speaking of crossing a bridge with a 40 mph cross wind.
The day I brought my trailer home I crossed the old PA Tunrpike bridge at Harrisburg.
That and some snow squalls made for an interesting maiden voyage.

FYI, one nice feature of this system is that it allows you to make VERY Tight turns if you need to. Some older systems do not allow you to do that.

Definitely need brakes on the trailer
I had a boat and didn't have brakes on the trailer - not a good combination and I only had a 18ft boat. The boat/trailer weight pushed the truck past me past the comfort zone on a few stop lights. The 4 runner w/ tow package comes prewired so all you need is the control box and then you'll be fine. As for pulling the weight, never had a problem getting it going.
