So I try not to muddle the Forums with too much junk, BUT I am going to start another build thread. We are starting on our 2015 TEP Build this week. And it wont be as fast as the last two, so perhaps I will take the time to take better pictures.

I am extremely interested in them as my next tire, but wonder if they're more than what I'll need - so far the S/T Maxx have been great, but left me hanging once or twice in the deeper mud. I was able to put them through many kinds of terrain in the last month. However, I did not spend much time in the mud. I can tell you, they are remarkable in wet rocks and creek bottoms. They do have very large tread voids, so it would seem they will out perform the ST/MAXX in mud.

My only issue so far with the STT/PRO is the limited sizes they come in, I would have preferred the 255 for the added PSI ground contact. they 285 would be better for flotation and may suit you well.

right on, thanks for sharing. I don't seek out mud on purpose, but it's rather unavoidable here in the mid-atlantic. These Pros look promising - will look forward to a longer term review from you - including on road! Good luck with the build and thanks again for the info.

Just got word that my Hefty Fabworks Bumper is shipping this week.

Time to back off the GX for a bit and get the TE going again.

Update on the progress so far. It has been very slow because we have been knocking out some other projects and waiting on part(s).

We added the FTS snorkel... Not because I "need" it, but because I need it.


I also added Baja Rack. I am not sure I will need it on this build given I have a bit more room on the back. But we camp quite a bit and it is the best place to stack the ARB chairs, plus I usually toss the awning and spare YETI up there.



I have not been updating much on this build because so many things rely on me getting the bumper installed. I have the following waiting on a bumper

Baja Designs Light bar
Baja Designs Flush mount POD lights
PRG Winch with syn line
Factor 55 Thimble and fairlead.
Hefty Fabworks Front skids (mid and gas tank already installed)
FireStick CB Antenna and CB

So when the bumper gets here, I am going to have some work cut out for myself.

I took the 4Runners out of storage today to clean them up and get them ready for the next two weekends. We are having a Soggy Bottom Ohio run in three weeks and I want to be ready. This is the first time these trucks have been together, so I made the best of it (from a marketing standpoint).

Honestly, I just ordered a full length flat rack for my GX. I assume you would go with a flat rack also for kayaks. I can tell you I have had two YETI coolers (loaded), 6 ARB chairs, 1 Awning (Coleman 14x14) and a few little odds and inns up there. I suspect kayaks will be little if any issue.

We have used Baja Racks on 6 (7 when the GX one gets here) of our builds. I have never been disappointed with them. To be fair, I only use mine about 6-10 times a year.

I have about 6000 on them so far, no noticeable change. I will say, having just gotten back from Jamboree in TX. They really are not afraid of much. I had what I thought was a risky move with a tree stump....but... they did not even flinch. I have not decided if I like them better than the ST MAXX on our other two 5th gens, but I do have quite a lot of confidence in them.

I might have some useful information for any of the 5th gen guys.
I really like the way the TRD CAI looks under the hood, and with a good exhaust the way it sounds when you go all read-headed step child on the skinny pedal.

I did not want to drop the coin on the intake on my 2015 since I did on both the 2013 and the 2010. So i found a solution that other might just be able to benefit from.



You order just the boot kit PTR03-35090-AD
and just the tube PTR03-89100-AA

It's not quite that easy.... you have to heat the tube and straighten the smaller end. Then you have to make a filler plate to seal the MAF port on the tube.

Once the two mods are made, you mount the tube upside down (TRD logo facing down).

not all that hard and you get a fairly clean looking intake.... I added an eBay TRD LOGO PLATE and called it a day.

BUT WAIT.......There's more...

I was so happy with myself after I finally got the intake to work, I decided to run to my local exhaust shop and get a magnaflow muffler glued in.

Vacuum Elbow - $3.99
Magnaflow Exhaust - $125
TRD Logo - 9.99

Later claiming on the forums I have gained 23 HP and 4 MPG..... PRICELESS

That's my kind of mod...but were there any actual gains other than the soundtrack? I'm always looking for a cheap couple of HP's and MPG's...
