She needs new tires. After getting a craptastic 25,000 miles out of the Goodyear Wrangler TD tires, I am ready for a new, much better set. My previous size was LT265/75/16. Now I am considering getting 17'' wheels and LT275/70/17 tires.

Here are my two choices:
Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmour
and
Toyo Open Country A/T

Give me pros, cons, of each...

You're asking for the Dodge or the 4runner? If you're asking for the 4Runner what happened to the TT's listed in your sig? Did you not like them? If not... EDIT: Never mind. I re-read the OP, I get it, Dodge tires.

IMHO you picked two good ones. 1st and foremost know that the GY TD and the SA's have little in common beyond the GY name. TD's kinda suck. I went through a set on a p/u and they were loud, slick and wore out quickly.

I have owned the Toyo's in a P size for my Trooper. I loved them. In P form they wore ok, stuck in the rain, balanced well and were great. They rode well and were very round. If I had to complain it would have been the wear. I got high 40's low 50's at most. I would have been thrilled with just 5k more... (That was P not LT so I don't know how you'll do.) What was good is the rubber stayed balanced and worked well to the end even in the rain.

I currently have the GYSA Wranglers and love them. They seem to be very well constructed and I think they'll last a long time. The rubber seems to work well in the rain, the tread is pretty quiet for an A/T etc. They seem like they're a really 'tough' tire. I'd guess these will outlast the Toyo's I had by a bit.

You can't go wrong. If the Toyo's come out cheaper I'd go that route and accept that they may not make a full 55k-60k.

Thanks, I'm talking about the Dodge.

I would be very happy to get even 50,000 out of these tires. Thats twice of what I got out of the TDs. Hell, at that time, the truck would have 230,000 miles on it!!

I need to go down to the shop where I got the TTs at and get the price of the SAs.

I think the Toyos at Tire Discounters were $624.

The Silent Armours are $195/tire at the local shop. I'm going tommorrow to order them. I figure I cannot go wrong since they are E range and the Toyos are C range. I pull a camper and these should take lots of the sway that I have out of the equation.

Toyo Open Country A/T = Nitto TG, which IMO is not as good as Goodyear Wrangler SA.

I've yet to own a Goodyear tire that I liked. From truck tires to high-performance sport car tires, I've disliked them for numerous reasons.

OTOH, I have been very pleased with two sets of Toyo Open Country A/T's.

I'm very glad I picked the Goodyears! These are very nice tires!

As you can see, I have already got them dirty.

The shop also found that my upper ball joints were worn out (Something I already knew), but I paid the $200 to have them replaced....

These tires are a definate upgrade to my shitty TDs. CJ3, you are right, the only thing they share with the TDs is the name "Goodyear Wrangler"! They are so quiet, now I can listen to the throaty exhaust of my 318 Magnum without interruption! They are also very smooth and didnt take much to balance.

Time will tell, but as of now, they are keepers!

:bigok: Glad you like them. I think they are very good tires especially considering the marginal performance of some other models of GY tires.

I've had the GYSA and now have the NTG. Both are good tires but the GYSA's are better imo. When you look at the cost difference however, NTG's all the way.

Maybe... Certain size GYSA's are a steal!
