Yea they aren't too bad in person, but the quality is quite far from the 4Runner. I drove my Uncle's Fortuner (2.7L VVT-i 2WD) and the power was ample enough for the country, but not for the USA where we need the power to accelerate and everything. A lot of rattles and squeaks, but then again the roads in the Philippines are horrible so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt that the roads caused that, not the fit and finish. But otherwise, it's a good vehicle overall. A lot of people buy those things.

Wouldn't it be pronounced like "Fortune-r" as in "Trump has a fortune"? It seems more likely based on the spelling of "Fortuner" instead of 4Tuner, pronounced "Four-Tuner". I know, its just semantics. Tomato, tomahto.

The Fortuner was available here, only with a Diesel engine, I think it was a 2.7 liter.

It was based on the Hilux.
It was made in Argentina, like the Hilux. Of course that the quality was not so good as a japanese Toyota.

just give us an optional 3.0 turbo diesel and 6-speed manual tranny and frankly I'd consider buying a 5th gen however ugly it might be!
