Hey Northof49
That was referring to the people I worked with, not specifically you. Calm down there killer! There are good and bad dealerships, as well as sales people. Take a deep breathe and read the post again.
Sorry man, but when you start the post off as you did, it really puts a bad spin on the rest.
As for your buy in US register in Canada idea, that won't work without a valid US address. Also, if Toyota finds out this is what you've done, they apparently will not do warranty work to your vehicle in Canada. I know that has been a problem for guys who bought brand new in Canada (because it was cheaper BTW) and sold in the US right away. If you had 2 residences, one CAN/one US, then it would work fine.....not that it's necessairly any cheaper in US anyways, but if it was, that's how you could do it.
I hear what you say about guys fudging numbers, hiding costs.....and all the other ugly stuff that gives the whole industry a bad name. That's the really cool thing with Access; any joe shmo can go on toyota.ca, pick options and work out a price/payment/lease with all costs included and laid out. Lease/finance/cash, side by side. At the dealership we use toyota.ca with no backdoor, or special editing priviledges. Check it out if you haven't; actually quite impressive.
So the good thing with Access, is that you should never get screwed, because you can look at what the dealer looks at, from home. The problems start when people don't want to pay the quoted prices, no matter how fair they maybe.
I have a theory I'll try out someday. Take a brand new, $50,000 vehicle and put a sticker for $20,000 in the window. I'll bet everything I own that someone will come in and offer $17 grand lol
