To cancel navigation, you don't have to press 3 buttons. Just wake up the voice command lady (I call her Marge) and tell her "stop navigation."

If you want to enter a new nav destination while driving, wake up Marge and say "launch destination search" and then tell her where you want to go.

Any other "retarded" problems that Toyota already figured out?

Eh, I've heard it all my life being on the spectrum myself. I would say it only offends me because he can't come up with at least a few synonyms to make reading his posts less monotonous.

I wouldn't say the electronics are retarded. It is Entune/navotainment that is sh!t, whether you have read the manual or not.

How about a warning screen when you star nav that warns you about setting nav while driving and then requires you to hit a confirm button, oh let me pull over to do that real quick.

Voice command can't understand me. I have literally punched the screen being so fed up that it can't understand the command "call home", Siri has no problem. :suspicious:

Every update changes the method of operations for one thing or another. For instance when I used to hit "FM" the FM presets would pop up, one of the updates trashed that, it would stay on whatever the last preset page was, could have been Sat or AM, I have yet to check if they fixed it.

The best solution is just to trash the OEM head unit and buy an aftermarket.

Oh and yes, agree, Eco indicator is stupid, people are weird worried about fuel economy in a 5000 lb truck that is as aerodynamic as a square box :biggrin1:

I bought a stereo and I've tried to ride it off road...it's horrible!

I've complained on several hifi forums about how bad the stereo is in the mud. But they won't take me seriously...they just tell me I should have bought a 4x4 with a crappy sound system.

You still do. It's the little bar that runs left to right in your instrument display. Next click after the MPG display. But instead of inches of vacuum it shows Current mpg in a bar graph. It's a vacuum gauge in all but name.

Not to be an ass, but honestly you don't sound like you've read your owner's manual. Not everything on cars is intuitive to everyone. I haven't been in a car to this day that's 100% intuitive or that has a good infotainment screen unit, they all have their issues.

If I'm not mistaken, like most modern vehicles, the T4R's Current MPG display works by calculating actual fuel used per unit of distance traveled. That's why the readout drops to zero when you come to a stop. A simple vacuum gauge wouldn't do this.

I have a 2011 Limited and it has the touch screen for the controls, nav, and audio.

Is there any way to make it stay on the audio screen? I change it to the audio and it changes back to the nav or the mileage. Just stupid.

Also I noticed that if I dial the phone from the screen I can't change the volume without using the touch screen.

Any help out there?

How often do you clean out the temporary files and history logs in that system? The audio/nav system is just like your windows laptop/desktop? The temporary files take up space, diminishing the unit's ability to process data. To reset it, look for a 30A fuse in the main fuse/relay box labeled AMP near the center of the box; it sits next to a 7.5A fuse.

Pull that 30A (GREEN) fuse and leave it out for a minimum of four hours because the vehicle is set up so the techs can disconnect the battery to do service and not need to worry about reprogramming the radio presets, compass or other devices that utilize memory. After the system is reset the audio/nav will assume the factory default values and work like new again. You can still use the vehicle but HU won't work w/o that fuse. Remember: it needs a few hours to delete the temporary files in the cache; which I think is you're problem. I may need to do mine every few months due to audio system hiccups. Let us know how you make out with the RESET!

I just got the truck used, so it's probably never been cleared out. That may solve some of the lag I'm seeing from the screen. Just like my computer.
