not that you should care, but if you sold that i now think your less cool...haha..seriously though, what happened to it? i would honestly trade my runner for one of those...and then go out and buy another runner...but still...frackn sweet

Yep, I sold it. It was one of my rides when I lived in Australia, but I sold it when I moved here (the US that is). I briefly considered importing it, but that costs an enormous amount, the truck was right hand drive, and I didn;t want to deal with emissions stuff and all that. To be honest, 3rd gens and Tacomas are very similar although not quite as robust. The thing I liked the most about it was the diesel engine. It didn't matter how much crap I was carrying, it still performed the same, plus got pretty good mileage.
I've got some cool videos of it somewhere, I'll try to upload them.

lol, no that's fair enough, completely understandable, i saw the PA location and that nice truck and got the pitch fork ready thinking you sold it once you were here already, haha, sometimes we must leave beautiful things in life behind to build the lives we want to lead and live , at the end of the day it's only a truck. I've left some pretty awesome things behind when i've moved over seas and back, haha, videos wold be cool! i would love to do a diesel conversion on the runner, i know alot of us would ! thanks for sharing the pics with us, awesome truck!

...and yes, if ARB made it or sold it for the Hilux, it was on this vehicle. Bullbar, lights, winch, rocker rails, rear step towbar, cap, roof rack, long range fuel tank, front and rear lockers, ome suspension, snorkel.
It's weird, even with the front locker, I never ever broke a cv joint...I wonder if they were a different design to our crappy 3rd gen ones, and if so can they be swapped out.... time for some interweb research

Love the truck. I would have put 255/85's on it, but other then that, it's perfect!
I wish Canada got the diesel engines too. I'm not too keen on the alterations of the new Hilux vs Tacoma, but the engines that are offered elsewhere on both are awesome.
My next vehicle I might try to import one. Need to find some loopholes...

I had a 97 Landcruiser with about 150,xxx miles on it that I traded in for my 4runner. I bought it thinking I would LIFT it and so on. But after about 6 months, I knew I had one that was just not taken care of and not a worthy candidate for modifying.
I traded it in with a bad head gasket. The sleezy used car salesman gave me something like $7000 trade in on it !!!
When I tried to tell the guy there may be some things wrong with it, he replied "I don't care, I have a guy that will buy it sight unseen".
He said this guy ships them overseas, Mostly to the Middle East he said.
Oh well, I thought, as I picture it in the desert, equipped with the local dealer installed optional machine gun package, steam rolling out from under the hood and full of bullet holes. and an U.S. Apache helo circling over head.
I always wondered if it really did get shipped over there.
