My 100% guess...the new 4runner will be a "re-badged" LC with:

1. Part-time 4wd.

2. More basic styling...but same size.

3. Less luxury...less sound deadening, less features, thinner glass, thinner sheetmetal...but same underneath.

4. Same powertrain.

5. Cloth and Nuluxe...no leather option.

6. "TRD PRO" will have front disconnect and rear locker of course.

7. Non-TRD PRO will have optional rear locker.

8. 3rd row will be optional...you can see that LC rear cargo floor is high for no damn good reason...probably preparing some 4runner models to have 3rd row?

9. Maybe now made in USA to cut costs?

10. Probably price range $45k to $55k.

11. Tow rating 6000 lbs.

I know. The LC is about 8.5" wider than a 4Runner. Good if you need it, bad if you're trails are narrow and you like your paint.

It's been pointed out the reason for the insanely wide width for both the GX550 and the LC is the inclusion of the side mirrors in the measurement. I think we figured out that they are only a couple inches or so wider if you take that out...

I'd more expect the 4Runner powertrains to mirror that of the Tacoma distribution. This would suggest the same powertrain as the LC for perhaps the Pro, Trailhunter and some other high trim (perhaps).

The reason for the crappy load floor in the LC is to accomodate the hybrid batteries in the back of the vehicle. With a body on frame and solid rear axle construction, you don't have a whole lot of real-estate to work with for packaging them.

The one thing it does tell you (also based on the load floor height in the Sequoia with only a hybrid option) is that Toyota will likely struggle to package a 3-row 4Runner with a hybrid option. Given how they've set trims up, it's likely if it is reserved for the Pro and Trailhunter these will be 2 row only vehicles.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the current 4runner ground clearance is 8.3”. Toyota fudges the numbers on the current and past 4runners.

I think that the approach and departure angles are going to decrease on the new LC probably bc of crash test requirements and fuel economy goals.

I like both the LC and Gx550 Current suv is a 2017 4runner that 98% on road and love the build for a family suv. As of now Im leaning towards the GX for v6 turbo and 3rd row for long trips. Once in this price range you get more bang for the dollar in a tahoe or yukon.

If they made the 6th gen 4Runner a soft uv that would be sad. If they made the 6th gen 4Runner same size as the 3rd gen it would be very interesting.

I kinda want the GX. But it is so ugly. My wife told me our next car needs to have more luxury than my limited trim 4runner.

It is extremely unlikely that the body/body flares are that much wider. Has to be the mirrors. The body- I'd guess 2-3 inches wider...need to find someone who has taken measurements.

I’ll assume that is with the 4-cylinder turbo if there is a motor like that. Pretty impressive, and especially so for Toyota. It may be time to start looking at TM stock.
