Toyota Navigation DVD

I just installed a E7019 into my 05 4runner (non JBL). I have version 12.1 map disc (86271-12085), and I think at least version 13.1 is out. Just wondering where everyone buys their discs from/ what I can expect to pay.

Also, I know specifically when installing the E7019 into a non-JBL 4runner that it's suggested to tap into the VSS wire, but what about into the reverse wire? If so, can anyone elaborate what the Nav unit uses the reverse wire for?

Lastly, does anyone know where I can source/buy a blank connector to make DIY a wire harness for tapping into the VSS? My unit came with a wire soldered to the middle pin on the 5 pin grouping but may want to make it into a removable harness at some point. Thanks for all the info and help!

The reverse wire is only typically used to activate the back-up camera so don't worry about it. There was a guy making a 3 wire harness (reverse, VSS, parking brake) that plugged into Toyota radios. Can't remember if I found him on here or toyota120. Will try to research....

New version: Toyota 4Runner Items for Sale This is where I purchase mine.

Reverse Wire: Use to activate rear camera (factory camera which runs on 6V, not the usual 12V that aftermarket cameras need) AND it's necessary for the GPS to work properly. I've installed other NAVs in other cars and it had to be hooked up. If this wire is not, then the vehicle direction will not track properly.

Harness: You don't need to make a harness, just use a wire to splice into VSS pin (wire), connect them, then run wire to a VSS wire (found behind the HVAC panel) and splice into that. Connect and seal. Done.
