It's a de-stroked version of the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 used in the 4Runner, FJ, Tacoma and Tundra.

On a more serious note, what this Chief said is what we have all seen lately from Toyota...quality and reliability are not the same as they were 10 years ago. This is why i bought the Sienna now instead of waiting for the redesign (supposedly 2009). I do NOT like the trend of new Toyotas...more power and bigger everything (including price of admission!), but materials and workmanship take a step back. If i wanted more power and bigger everything, then i would go domestics...i buy a Toyota for it's craftsmanship and quality!

I was a Mazda guy for many years before owning my 97 4Runner. I preferred the feel and handling of Mazda but wanted a more utilitarian vehicle and more reliable as I had some problems with my 3 Mazdas..... with the purchase of my 07 4Runner I am getting that same feeling again that I had with Mazda.....namely the powertrain was the focus of the manufacturer and that made driving the vehicle exciting.........I still enjoy the 07 like the 1st day I got it and really like the engine, it's sophisticated "go".........and now my son drives the Mazda 3 which is an exciting vehicle. I hope that Toyota begins taking some of the complaints from consumers more seriously and when I joined the forum was surprised at the appearance that Toyota would not help consumers I hope that the Prez's words are not just advertising.
