Note for those using Microsofts Virtual PC:
Since the cable hooks up via USB, you need to enable it in the Windows virtual XP side. Its in the top bar on the virtual pc desktop... If you go this route you will see what I am talking about. I'll see if I can post up a screen shot later..
That took me a good 30 minutes to figure out. I thought my drivers wasn't installed properly or my cable was defective... Just turns out that you need to use it in XP side and enable the USB cable.
USB is not enabled in Virtual PC 2007 and there is no option in the "top bar". The driver installed without an error but I don't have the USB active.
Help with any ideas on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks.
Are you using 32 or 64 bit XP?
Got this to run on a 64-bit laptop with Vista (Home Premium edition) using Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. Things to note:
Had to find a copy of XP to load into the Virtual machine (it just creates an empty virtual PC that you need to load an O/S onto.)

The version that I remember downloading came with XP on it already. I'm assuming the difference is due to Windows 7/Vista.

The "top bar" that I was referring to looks like this. http://download.windowssecrets.com/images/wsn/W20110922-TS-Toolbar.jpg
Again it might be because the software is different for Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

If Virtual PC won't work then I would just use VirtualBox or VMWare. If I remember correctly, both have free versions of virtualization software. Since you have an XP disc around this might be the best alternative for you.
I haven't used VMware, Virtualbox, Parallels myself, but those are the ones I hear quite a bit when talking about virtualization software. Good luck!
^^^^ That's a really good idea. It would save the frustrations of getting these virtual machines running.
Also for anyone interested, the version of techstream I got back in August, I believe 7.10 works with the newer 2013 models as well. I'm not sure what the newest version is, or what benefits it offers compared to the one I purchased in the summer.
...
I'll end up trying Virtualbox.

Whatever happened to English.......
You don't need Techstream to turn off the Trac/VSC and do donuts in icy parking lots.
There's a button for that.
