Toyota To Delay Introduction Of The 4runner Redesign

I can only go by history...3rd gen 4runner lasted from 1996-2002. So, by that, then 4th gen should go from 2003-2009.

Exactly, 7 years for generation. 5th one should be as 2010 model.

2010 still sounds a bit far. You guys think that 4R will have another power plant upgrade before the 5 Gen gets in?
How hard would it be to add the dual VVT technology to the current single VVT 4.7 engine? By adding I mean a new engine based on the current.
How about hybrid 4Runner? likely or not on the 4 Gen?

For all of you "visionaires" what new gadgets can we expect by 2009 of the 4 gen?

I don't know about "dual VVT-i", but I think we are not going to see "Hybrid" 4Runner any time soon, specially 4th Gen.; I think if Toyota will make it will be the earliest 5th Gen or may be even 6th.

LOL Thai.............I was willing to wait for the 2009/10 4Runner until your note mention something about IRS from the Highlander. I was about to start some research on the next generation Sequoia. If they go IRS.....I am probably out.

Not sure about this, but I think the V8's future is uncertain... Federal Regulations going into place now have SUV's meeting minimum MPG requirements by 2010 of 22+ MPG. Now if they borrow a page from GM's and Chrysler's book by running the V8 on 4 cyclinders while on the highway.... Hmmm... Nope, I think a hybrid is more likely, especially with 3 years of development and design.

If they would go to unibody / IRS I'd be done with the 4Runner. I know it's unlikely but would love to see the 4R nore truck like and sit up higher.

As I have been nosing around on the Toy lots I would love to have my 4R body sittin up high on the Tundra chasis/suspension.

I've really been getting into the Tundra double cab sport. I really like the way the truck look's,but would not part with my 4R !
