toyota warranty

just got a call from dealer/service offering a 3year/36,000 miles for $1895.
includes 100% labour and parts, except: tune-up, oil change, tires, fuses, lights, battery, glass. in Canada and US
now, my question is: is it worth it?

got a 2001 4runner sport edition, with 95,000 miles

No,they are never worth it....unless maybe you got almost 300k and the engine might give out but I'm sure the warranty company probably has hidden restrictions.

How many miles on your truck? I have just over 140k and the only thing a warranty would've taken care of was my axle seals which is really the only issue I've had outside of regular maintenance.

Check the company who supplies the warranty. Some dealers will try to tell you its Toyota, but its just some private company - which may not be bad.

If it is a private company other than Toyota, "google" quotes from that company to make sure you are getting a good deal.

Also check what mods do to the warranty. When I bought mine new I explained that in 3-4 years my truck will probably be lifted etc. and I bet that would void an extended warranty. Their response was "You are probably right for lots of components." Many warranties are also void/useless if the damage is caused by off-road driving, which even in a 4Runner, is not often covered.

Personally I'm not a big fan of any warranty I have to pay extra for. It seems it can be tough enough to have them cover stuff even when its factory warrentied. My brother bought a Certified '06 Tacoma from a Toyota dealer last year and had to go to a district rep to have the pitted/rusted wheels replaced. Local dealership said they wouldn't do it and he should take it back to the Toyota dealer he bought it from. AND THIS WAS TOYOTA CERTIFIED! Fortunately the district rep apologized and straightened it out for him.
