Toyota wiper blades

We bought our TEP in January of 2015. I am still using the original wiper blades, have done nothing to them other than wash them when I wash the vehicle, use any old kind of washer fluid, and they ARE THE BEST WIPER BLADES I HAVE EVER USED!! I can't believe that they clean streak free and make no noise!!! Is anyone else having this kind of success? I know that when I do need to replace I will get Toyota inserts from the dealer and put them in. Amazing!

i called my dealer for replacement inserts and parts guy said toyota no longer sells inserts. Instead they sell the whole wiper blade.

It doesnt rain much in southern utah so i just buy goodyear blades from costco when theyre 5 bucks a side. So far they're performing just fine on the 4runner without too much noise but cannot say the same about my camry or rav4. For 10 bucks why not and just deal with the noise for several times a year.

check on ebay. Few of the dealers around me had ebay stores that selling all kind of genuine oem replacement which include wiper blade inserts and wiper blade refill.
 
Mine were great. Lasted from July 2015 to early spring 2017.

That said, I have the high end rainX ones now, and like them quite a bit more.
 
I buy a few Toyota inserts every year from Olathe Toyota (site sponsor). Toyota certainly does sell them, many dealers simply choose not to sell them, they would rather sell an entire blade.
 
Search these part numbers. Might want to verify they are still correct.

I love the wiper blades on it. I will definitely be buying them again when it is time.

Didn’t know they were a site sponsor. My parents live 10 Min down the road from them.
 
I have had nothing but success after using the Toyota wiper blades and I plan to use them for the life of my truck. In my experiences they do last longer than any aftermarket wiper blade (RainX, Bosch, and a few other I can't remember). And this is after using them on various Toyotas (Tacoma, 2 Rav4's, and a Highlander). The most time I have gotten out of aftermarket wipers was 7 months and can cost upwards of 40 bucks. On the Toyota blades I can go about 10 months and usually cost less than 20 bucks (this is for the rubber blades only, NOT the frame). Truthfully I change the rubber inserts every six months now regardless of wiping ability because it makes for much safer driving in poor conditions which I am required to drive in due to my job. And for forty bucks a year...why the heck not...
 
I got three years out of my mine, replaced the inserts last year, the only reason I did the end of the passenger side started to tear.

Most online OEM parts dealers sell them. Dealers make more money unclipping old and replacing new in 30 seconds, than spending 10 minutes threading new inserts.
 
nothing beats oem blades, especially for the 4runner.

Mine last only 6- 8 months before they start with some minor streaking. I live in Raincouver so my blades go on a marathon quite often and also some significant temperature changes when I head into the mountain.

Depends on the blade design, new Tundras for example use a blade that has to be replaced as a unit. A lot of other models still have replaceable inserts.
 
Interesting read here. I bought my 4runner in May of this year and although I already have 12000 miles on it, My passenger blade is streaking like mad!. Are they not covered under Toyotacare for the first 2 years?
 
Streaking blades can often be cured by simply cleaning them. When you're gassing up and cleaning the windshield, flip the wipers up and scrub the blade with that window-cleaner-thingy. Do it every time you clean the windshield.

soak a paper towel in denatured alcohol and wipe the blade a few times. you'll be shocked at how much grime comes off.
 
if the windshield is dirty and also with tree crap , the blades will get damaged and streak.. keep the glass clean esp if you expect to have any precipitation..

my T4R the blades still work perfectly 1.5 years old in rain ..

the OEM blades IMO do not work good in snow . I need blades that are with a bigger blade height as the snow lifts the wiper off the glass..
 
Thanks for the reminder! The Toyota refills do seem solid, and they are cheap and easy to replace. My wife's are probably several years old so I went ahead and ordered all three of them this time (the rear has never been changed). Ordered them for $8.32/ea shipped from this seller:
