The fact that it is clear that the Prius brake issue has very little to do with ABS (at least in Prius case), i believe that your whole argument has gone down the toilet. If anyone here thinks the ABS conundrum relates solely to the PRIUS then they'd better think again!

I notice some of those characteristics too. To me it's a little bit like when ABS first came out, consumer education is more of an issue than the specific technology. The VSC and brake boost are why the you get the momentary feel of lost brakes.



Driving like a normal, sane, good driver is becoming less of an option. With the addition of VSC to ABS there's many good things that happen, this braking characteristic isn't one. What we need to do is be idiots, freak out and try to plow the brake pedal through the floor the second we get the sensation of brake loss. It will stop and very quickly. (It's all part of the grand Gov't conspiracy to dumb us down so they can control us. Once they have control they'll select some of us to populate/colonize the secret Mars base:lmao



Some of these nanny technologies are great but we all need to be educated as to how they affect the driving experience.



FWIW, I have experienced the same 'brake issue' as the FJC's in my 4Runner (go figure), an '06 'vette, '07 Caddy and a new E150 van. My 4Runner does it a little easier but... Come on, what do you want? VSC which will save the same number of lives as the introduction of airbags and may leave you vulnerable for some lower speed braking anomalies or no VSC? I'm not saying the FJC's (and maybe the 4Runner) couldn't use a tweak but overall it works very well and I wouldn't trade it. I feel a:flamethrwoer2:and a:whipping2coming.

Aren't all the problems with these newer cars avoidable by sticking with a known quality product??

for example, how about the zillions of 3rd Gen 4runners and other vehicles that have been on the road for 10-15 years without major problems??

why is it that people jump to the newest flashiest car... how about wait a bit, see what kind of product you are buying?

I try to practice the same restraint before upgrading any software or computer hardware too. Let others find and learn from the bugs, fix them show me they have a reliable product and then Ill buy/acquire it.

the newest car Ive ever owned was a 98 Grand Am in 2001, so it was still 3 years old, plenty of time for reviews etc. i bought my 96 4runner in 2002... you dont have to worry about someone finding out something like the brakes dont work 6 years later! :bluejump:

True... It's the same for the fly-by-wire throttles. Nobody really knows until a product has been in the field for MANY years.
