Toytec 3" kit

Im going to get new tires, and i figured im going to just get a small lift/ leveling kit first. I was thinking about going with the Toytec 3" kit. I dont have any experience yet really with my 4Runner, i always had chevys before. With a spacer kit like this, do people run into issues with CVs wearing out faster because of bad angles or anything? also do i need anything else like any type of link extensions or anything with this kit?

Sorry for the questions guys, i know people get tired of lift/ tire questions.

we do get tired, but id be bored out of my mind if you didn't ask. with a spacer lift, some people add a differential drop, a lot of people, myself included, don't believe in them. with a spacer lift, you'll probably see your cv's get to level, if not angled a tiny bit downward, not bad at all. at worst you will see the inner boot clamp let out a little grease, a simple hose clamp and you'll be fine. you won't need anything else, a lot of people run wheel spacers (also on toytecs website) to widen their stance, but they aren't necessary

Welcome to Toyota trucks!

It seems that 3" is considered the max before other things are absolutely needed (like longer brake lines, etc.) to keep things from rubbing or wearing out. If you are getting bigger tires, then there may be other considerations like rubbing on the UCAs or fender wells (depends how big you go).

^^ As stated above the only problem if you call it that is align & possible boots are dry & they rip due to raising or clamp busts , other than that good to go ! Mine were dry to to desert heat & I was lucky just repacked em & replaced the boots while was at it .

Ok thanks for the input guys. I always remember with chevys anytime you did anything to lift the front ur CV angles were horrible and they would go out all the time, but they were also heavier vehicles and it sounds like the 4Runners didnt come from the factory with CV angles at their limit already lol

Im guessing the grease from the CVs is just because the CVs are used to being in a certain position with a certain range of motion then when that changes the bands move and leak. The CVs were just replaced so im thinking i probably wont have that problem.

I dont want to go crazy with tires, ive never been a fan of huge tires on a multi purpose vehicle. I think u love more trying to spin all that weight than u gain with the increased tire size. Id like to go maybe just a little bigger than stock, i want to avoid any kind of rubbing or anything so ill probably just go a little bigger than i have now with the stock tires.

Before you settle on the spacer lift make sure your shocks are still in good condition. DownSouth Motorsports sells a set of Bilstein 5100's for $319. I bring it up since if your shocks have a ton of miles on them, this is a good time to refresh your truck. With the 5100's you can get 2.5" front and order the rear spring daystar spacer for $20 on Amazon.

Actually that's a good point. My truck has over 200k on it on probably the same shocks so I'm sure their pretty shot. The bilsteins might make more sense since I'm going to need to replace them soon enough anyway and it sounds like I'd get almost the same amount of lift either way.

Yep. $150 more right now. But you will be set for a long time.

i just ordered the bilstein 5100s and 1.5 spacers for the rear. I have the XREAS so ill have to take that out im guessing, will the rear stock shocks work for a while or will i need to get new shocks for the rear right now also?

since you have xreas you need all 4 shocks. Downsouth motorsports sells all 4 for $309..

damn i should have ordered from there then, i ordered the front 2 from toytec

that is why i listed it in my original post to you. Well call toytec, ask for the t4R discount and order the other 2 (or cancel the order if not shipped yet).. but you will probably end up spending more since DSM ships for free
