Trying to get coilovers installed. Is there a trick to getting them in? Seems to me it would be easier to separate the tierod from the spindle. There's just not enough room to get this thing in. It hits the cv's and the steering arms. Don't have a separator at the moment.

It sounds like he's trying to install a complete coil over. If I remember correctly, Antman's method is when you replace/separate the coils from the strut.

If it seems to be that difficult, you could remove the plate for the lower ball joint and let the control arm hang lower. The only difficult thing after that would be reattaching the lower ball joint to the control arm.

Trying to install entire coilover. Lower ball joint is disconnected. It's either the upper control arm , cvs , or steering arm getting in the way. Not much room to work with. Not trying to be a wise a**. The search function leaves a lot to be desired. Just thought maybe someone that installed one may have a trick to getting this thing in. The video shows it being installed without the upper control arm .

You're correct. There isn't a whole lot of room to work with, but if you disconnected everything you should be able to get it in to the mount with a pry bar.

I tried to avoid disconnecting the sway bar on my first go, and that didn't really pan out.

Loosening the cam bolts make life so much easier. Just mark the tabs with a marker to get them kind of close to where they were. This will allow the lower control arm to move down and provide all the room you need.

^^^This. The lower control arm will drop down to allow more room. You'll have to get it aligned anyway so like what was already said, mark them to get close.

Loosened cam bolts and that gave me all the room I needed. Thanks .Now To the back coils.

Instead of the lower joint (which is what I did for my 3rd Gen install). I found it easier to remove the UCA bolt. That gave me all the room I needed. I was replacing the UCAs anyway so worked best for me.

Don't need a separator, Just tap the end link with a hammer... typically pops right out.
