Went to Dripping Springs, TX last week to some family land and I broke a rear shock top stem on the original suspension (208,000 miles) and decided to just redo do the whole thing.

I will update this thread as I get the stuff done (no guarantees on time though, I have a full time job, am a full time student, and am trying to complete a bathroom remodel). I did opt for the Bilstein Shocks of course.

Breaking off that top shock mount is going to save you a lot work. When you go to do the other side you will wish you broke that one too.:gun4:

Haha! When it broke I was actually kind of happy! The truck was in WV for the first 8 years and I take it to the beach in Galveston, TX quite often. I will probably just break / cut the other one off too!

Yea, breaking the top is the easiest way to get the old shock off. just unbolt the bottom of the shock and jerk it back and forth until the top breaks. Otherwise its impossible to get the rusted-ass top nut off.

Also I am I very frugal. I have done a lot of research on the Lower Ball Joint replacements and have decided to go OEM Toyota. For any that may search in the future this is the post that finalized it for me:

Bought from Camelback Toyota in AZ for around $167.00 shipped to the house.

Cheapest OEM I could find even compared to my buddy with an employee discount at the local Dealer.
