ToyTec Superflex Rear Coils

I did an alignment when installing my complete OME kit. Does anyone think it necessary to do again after replacing just the rear coils and rear shocks?

In theory, changing the height of the rear does effect the front alignment. As the back goes up, the caster is reduced. Also as the back goes up, the rear axle will move to the passenger side. This movement does change the tracking of the vehicle. If you don't do an alignment you may notice the steering wheel might be off center. This does not effect the alignment. You may also notice a slightly "lighter" steering feel due to less caster. Neither is something that NEEDS to be corrected.

Driving with a heavy load in the back of the vehicle also, except in reverse, effects alignment in the same ways.

From personal experience. I have changed rear coils without getting a new alignment.

Changing out the rear shocks will not effect the alignment at all.

I have one on my thread. Its with Bilstein 5100s, Toytec superflex coils, and limited flares. Hold on, lemme find it.

Thats with a 3 inch body lift right?. And didn't you say you have the FJ superflex coils?

2002 Sport with no body lift measurements of superflex coils. Driver's side center hub to fender 24-1/4". Passenger side center hub to fender 24-1/4". This is with about 200lbs in the rear of the vehicle. This was taken after the springs had time to settle (2 weeks). Prior measurements with the 891's were drivers side 22-1/2" and passenger side 22-1/2". Ground to fender with 255/85-16 bfg's and superflex coils measure 39-1/2" both driver and passenger side.

Good stuff. This is what I've been waiting for. I have the 891's and Procomp 9000's with 200+lbs in the rear at all time so it's sagged pretty bad. Even with the 1.5" spacers from Toytec it's still sagging more than an inch in the rear.

There will be another 200 lbs hanging off the rear when I get a rear bumper/tire carrier. Should I slap the spacers back in with the new springs? Much rather rake than sag.

I've got the OME 861's with a 10mm trim pack with limited flares and it sits right at 26.75" hub to fender in case you wanted a comparison.

I was just about to order OME 890s/5100s with a set of rear trim packers (possibly 2 sets), but this has me thinking I might be better off with these. I want to run the front 5100s on the 3rd perch with trd springs, do you guys think I will have too much rake? I tow a decent amount, but I still want something that rides halfway nice. For those that have tried them, what are your thoughts?

If you want to tow, go with the 891 over the 890 (spring rates 890@190#, 891@210#).
If you want added height (adding the packers), go with these coils. More height and a spring rate of ~220#.

So the superflex coils have a spring rate of around 220#? That might work out good to tow with as the top rate would hopefully be soft enough for a nice ride with the lower rate being stiff enough to not sag too much. I don't pull too many heavy trailers anyways. Do you know the top spring rate?

So whats the story here? how are they different then the OEM Toyota LC coils? Old man Emu (OME) LC lift coils are stiff....

OE LC coils are a 180# spring rate, I think these are 220#, OME 861 are a progressive 220#, OME 851 220#, OME 891 210#, OME 890 190#.

The quantity of coils per foot can change effect how that spring rate handles weight.

Sorry for the late response. It is, sorry, forgot to mention, so subtract 3 inches from that. And yes, I do have the FJ coils. I do believe their not far from te same though.

correct. These give 3.75" of lift. The LC's generally give 4" or more.

other than that how do you like them? Do they ride good? I'd be interested what your overall height would be with the spacers in there too. Post some pics when you get those installed on there! What rear shock are you running?
