ToyTec Superflex Rear Coils

As I stated, I sent an email to ToyTec, and this is a run down of what I asked (cut out some of the non important crap).
"I ordered a full lift from you last year (OME 881 / 891) for my 99 4Runner. After a year I purchased a rear bumper (CBI OffRoad) I thought the 891s would handle it, but this bumper is heavier then I thought once I got the tire and Jerry Cans on. Ordered the 10mm spacers to try to level it out. Worked for several days, but started to sag again. Saw the Superflex Coils and read a few threads on T4R.org, but not seeing the info I need. Hoping to get answers for these questions.
1. I also purchased your Panhard Drop Kit (not installed yet),but is that the same height I would need with Superflex Coils?
2. With the 891, I have the OME-60028 shocks. Will those work with the Superflex or are they too short? Will they work for everyday driving (winter time in Alaska, I'm not going to do exploring, or off-roading). What are the draw backs? (Till spring time, then I'll upgrade shocks)
3. Any other parts I have to start looking at, (brake lines and such)?
4. Or is there a different route I should be taking? Shipping weight of the bumper was 260lbs I think. (lets say pallet was 40lbs so bumper is around 220lbs). Plus Spare tire, and two mostly full Jerry Cans, and 30lbs of gear inside... (plus camping gear come summer time).

Hi Shannon,
The CBI rears are heavy!
1- I currently run our Superflex coils with our PH drop, stock panhard, 400 extra lbs, and it works fine and I’m still sitting at about 3” of rear lift. I would advise on gusseting the PH drop once you weld it in (see pic).
2- The OME 60028 should work with the Superflex coils but you will be VERY limited on down travel! I would advise on using the long travel shocks for the best overall travel of your suspension in back.
3- With the long travel rear shocks, I would also advise on our longer rear brake line. You can get away not using one IF you bend down the top bracket where the soft line meets the hard line at the frame.
4- Another option is to run rear air bags to help comp for the weight. We did this with our 4th Gen Runner with a CBI rear and it is working out great!

This may be a good starting point to try with your OME coils. You can also use them with your Superflex coils if you go that route…

BUT!!!!!!! I just got a reply from someone who ran these coils with a CBI Bumper....
"I also have the cbi rear bumper and ended up having custom coils built to handle the weight. I was running the Toytec superflex coils and the spring rate just wasn't high enough to handle the massive steel from cbi. I had to get springs with a 300-320 pound spring rate, whereas the superflex run a 220 pound rate. I doubt you'll find something "off the shelf" that you'll be happy with in the long term. My custom springs ran $300, and well worth it in my opinion. I went through coil spring specialists. "
So, I am looking for another email from ToyTec for more info and I'll keep you posted.... As I told them, I'm not questioning their info, I just want to make sure this is the last coil purchase I make and I'm happy with it.

Yea but in Colorado if you have no power you cant get up the mountain highways. Your always on the gas but feel like your not getting anywhere, 265's are perfect.

Is that a full size CBI (tire rack and jerry cans)? How much lift did that give you and do you have a pic?

From what I'm putting together the Superflex will give me around 3". Since I have the 10mm spacers, I asked Toytec if I could use them as well and give me a solid 3". Maybe a bit more. I wouldn't mind a bit of rake so when I really load down for camping it's still close to level.
I wouldn't mind learning more about the OME-861 Springs.... Some say stiff, some say they like them...

15/10 wheels with 33/12.50-15 tires. There is some rubbing, even after beating the wheels wells and bumper, but my 1.5" body lift got here yesterday from 4crawler (insanely fast shipping btw). I think if the wheels had less offset it wouldn't rub. It only does now at full lock on bumps and when the rear is stuffed. Looks badass, I love this setup!

Mine are doing great, sits about the same as it did new. About every other weekend I haul a CRF450 on a hitchmount carrier and pull a small trailer with a 4 wheeler and it does fine. I added air bags to help, but even without them, it did ok.

Yea, I figure 275-300 tongue weight plus some gear in the back. It doesn't squat too much, a couple inches would be my guess. If I were racing tomorrow I could give you a better idea, but the next one is a week away. I actually drove it like that but with more weight in the back from SC to CA before I added the airbags. It did fine, but it does seem a little nicer with the added support, they don't help a lot with the extended springs, but as often as I haul that stuff it is nice to have them. Unloaded with the bags deflated it rides great, almost a little too soft, but really nice. I took my rear sway off a few months ago when I added the bags and havn't gone off road since, but they flexed like crazy with the sway and the extended bilsteins toytec offers. As you can tell I really like my setup, it took me a really long time to decide on it, so that's why I try and give my opinions on it. Hopefully this helps you to decide one way or the other.
Here is a pic of it when I got to the dunes. Trd/5100s in the front and superflexs/5100s in the back loaded down without airbags.
Also, that's after I added 20gal of gas in the jugs and filled up the bike and 4wheeler, all that gas sagged it atleast another inch.

Great, I am glad I could help! I am sure this setup isn't for everyone, but it seems to work great for what i do, which is all that matters to me!

i run 265s and i have LC 8 wraps on my 4Runner with stock bumpers...i gotta buddy that just put the Superflexx on his 4Runner and we sit right about the same height in the rear, he is running 285s though...
