ToyTec Superflex Rear Coils

Me. Mine clunk all the ****ing time. Drives me crazy. Basically it's caused by the coils on top, the close together ones, unloading and reloading, aka any bump. When the coil has load placed on it while it is unloaded, picture the top of a bump, it causes the coils close together to slap into each other causing a noise.

Really? Mine are wrapped in plastic and I've never had a problem.

I'm the one who posted the video on YT, I've noticed if I'm loaded and drive over speed bumps it won't have coil slap but if empty I drive over bumps SLOOOW if not I can hear the slap, in the beginning I was very annoyed by them and was always cautious of them but now I'm used to them after I changed my driving skills a bit lol, so those of you who are worried of the coil slap when getting superflex id highly suggest putting on some coil spring rubber sleeves or simply DIY with some type of rubber hose.

I have a pair of 8 wraps waiting to get installed. I like everything about my superflex coils EXCEPT the coil slap. It drives me crazy. When I get a free day, I'll be swapping out my superflexes.

I ended up throwing about 150lbs in the back over the axels to get rid of the sound. I only had the dreaded clunk on the passenger side so I took everything apart to check. I even installed a sleeve where the compressed coils and separated coils meet. I eventually got some bags and threw them in the back.

Just placed an order on some SF coils along with the 5100 shocks. Going away from my OME 891s with my OME 60027 shocks. Looking for a softer ride now that I am not loading my runner down as heavy these days. It will see mainly trails/around town driving with only camping gear. I would load it down with over 500-600lbs of stuff for long road trips and had no issue with the OME, its just that unloaded it is a little stiff. If anybody is interested in the OME set up I am looking at selling it once my SF set up shows up.

Been running these for almost a year. Great coils. As far as coil slap. Yes only at full flex !! Another issue I have is my rear drive shaft hits the gas tank at full flex. Pretty sure its not the coils fault. However they ride nice and I like them. Good coils ! Even though they say one is taller then the other to compensate driver side lean. I had to install ome 10mm spacer on the taller coil. !!!

No noise from the Superflex coils whatsoever since they were installed 7/2013. Empty or loaded with >800 lbs of added weight over stock condition, still quiet. The springs were provided with some type of soft (plastic or rubber) coil wrap on the coils that are closer together, so maybe that is the trick.

Anybody still selling their old OME springs after switching to the SuperFlex coils? :biggrin1:

I always hear the slap over bumps with my superflex coils, had them for over a year. Doesn't really bother me. But I am switching them out for OME 861 coils in a couple months when my Shrockworks rear bumper/tire swing-out comes. It will just be too much weight for the coils imo with my usual load in the rear plus the bumper. I will probably have an inch or so of rake with the 861's.

What are you looking for? I'll have some old OME 891's for sale here soon.

How old do you mean when you say "old"? Lol. I'm thinking I want 890s but I'm not sure, currently at close to stock height on Bilstein 4600s, but the weight I always have in back has made it so that I'm barely level and the ride is a little too soft.
