Toytech lifts

I think that the Limited-style flares contribute to a bit more narrow stance look. I have the skinny chrome flares with the same 5 star wheels, so the same lift might not look the same on our two vehicles. What perch did you set up the fronts on? I would go ultimate, but try to set up for about 2 inches up front.

I dig way it looks with the spacers, and that would save me some coin on wheels. How wide of spacers and what company did you go with? Did you have to install new wheel studs to make the spacers work?

Toytec don't back up their products.

I bought the ultimate lift for my 02 SR5 with the 650lb front springs 2yrs ago. I have blown both front shocks in just 2 yrs. So I call Bilistien directly about the lifetime replacement warranty and because Toytec is using a vehicle specific shock (Tacoma front shock) on a 4Runner the warranty is voided, Bilistien advised me to contact Toytec because they thoughtToytec usually will back their products. Well guess what no such luck, I was offered 5% off a new set and was accused of being a weekend warrior and beating my 4runner. I fell toytec should replace my front shocks because they sold me a kit for a 4Runner and neglected to tell me that the warranty is voided because THEY are putting the wrong shock in the 4runners. I have spent nearly 4000.00 with Toytec ,Ultimate lift, rock sliders, rear control arms, Panhard bar and I'm sure theirs more stuff that I can't think of right now. And that's how they treated me.
I would not recommend Toytec to anyone.

First off, Bilstein does not make a front shock for the 3rd gen other than the 4600 series. In the 5100 lineup, there are Tacoma 5100's and Tundra 5100's. Its kinda hard to sell a 5100 specific for the 4Runner when Bilstein doesn't even make one.

However pretty much everyone knows that the front suspension of a 1st Tacoma is basically identical to the 3rd gen and the Tundra's are very similar. Other companies do the exact same thing and sell both the Tacoma and Tundra shocks for use on the 3rd gen just like Toytec does.

Second, you know shocks are a wear item right? The harder you use them, the quicker they will wear out. From your other posts on here, it looks like to do wheel it alot which is going to contribute to them wearing out quicker. Its just the nature of the beast

It also depends on how high you have them set. If you are higher than 3 inches, thats going to put a ton more stress on the shocks and make them wear out way faster

If the truck is sitting on the ground in this picture in your build thread, you are way above 3 inches of lift.

I agree 100%. But what does that have to do with a shock that Is lifetime warranty if used in the specified application. Why doesn't Bilistien list the shock for 4runner if it's the same. My point is that I bought the lift because I was under the impression the shocks were lifetime and didn't realize because Toytec doesn't bother to tell you the warranty is voided because the shocks weren't designed for a 4runner. I get screwed out of around 450.00 dollars. FYI successful company's are built on customer service, I work for one, it is the largest firearms manufacturer in the USA and if you buy our product we stand behind it 100%, even if you simple don't like the model you purchaserd you can get a different one. That's customer service in my opinion.

The difference is that Bilstein is the manufacturer and Toytec is a retailer.

Yes i agree with you that its kinda stupid that Bilstein won't honor the warranty even though its basically the same vehicle. Since they do that, i know that ToyTec does a 1 year warranty and just covers it all themselves even though they are just going to eat the cost of replacing any shock since Bilstein won't.

Like a lot of folks in this forum, I went with 1.25" hub-centric spacers from Spidertrax. They're based here in Colorado and have exceptional customer service. Their spacers come in sets of two with everything you need. You'll use your stock studs. Here's a couple of shots of mine:
