TPMS is THAT sensitive?

Got the light. Went all last Winter without a warning, then a cold snap last week trips it. Checked pressure today, and the lowest is at 29psi. I keep them at 32.

Is ten percent enough to trigger the TPMS?

It's kinda annoying, really.

And please, don't tell me to read the damned manual.

What's bothering me is I filled the tires a few weeks ago. And, I went almost a year without a problem.

2 weeks after I pumped up the tire, the light came on again, had a screw in it.

Its not 10 percent. It goes from 28-74 psi. Rule of thumb for future reference: Every 14 degrees temperature drop your tires will drop one psi. So if the temperature is 30 degrees colder today than yesterday your tires will be down two psi even though you lost no air! I run 37 psi so temp has to drop about 130 degrees to light the TPMS light.

I considered a slow leak.

OK. I'll look the tires over for anything I might have picked up.

So, 28 psi and it trips? Here in Albuquerque, we can go from triple digits to sub zero F in a few weeks/months. It'll be about a 30 degree swing from today's high tonight.

I'm not sure. There always was one in my 08. Haven't looked on the 14 yet but it hasn't been that cold yet.

To me that seems ridiculously stupid, of any tire on the truck that you want to know the pressure of, it is the spare! For the most part you can visually judge the four your riding on, the spare on the other hand...:suspicious:

I have changed out a few for people roadside and I would feel comfortable saying 50% of their spares were "near" flat, between 10-15 psi.

LOL I realize, you just being the harbinger of bad news You know that Toyota buys sooo many of those I am sure their cost is so negligible they could add it to the cost of the truck and you would never notice it. Yet the end user has to pay an extra $50+ for it and have it installed.

It seems silly to me. Sorry for derailing with my minor burst of agitation :focus:
